CONSTRUCTION SITE MANAGER - CLIENT REPRESENTATIVE - 200MW BESS - 275KV SUBSTATION (NORTH EAST) Location: Hartlepool Area, North East England Contract: Freelance / Contract Duration: 2-2.5 Years Sector: Renewable Energy - Battery Energy Storage (BESS) The Opportunity We are looking to speak with experienced Construction Site Managers / Client Representatives interested in supporting the delivery of a major utility-scale Battery Energy Storage project in the North East. The project comprises a 200MW BESS development, including the battery compound, electrical balance of plant, export connection and construction of a 275kV on-site substation. Site mobilisation is planned for October, with the successful individual supporting the project through construction, energisation and ultimately commissioning. This is a client-side position acting as the eyes and ears of the project management and engineering teams on site. The role is not about stepping into the Principal Contractor's responsibilities, but ensuring the construction programme is being delivered correctly, maintaining accurate oversight of progress, quality and site activity, and providing clear reporting back to the project owner. Key Responsibilities: Provide day-to-day client-side construction oversight throughout the project. Act as the on-site representative for the project management and engineering teams. Monitor construction progress against the agreed programme and provide accurate weekly reporting. Oversee works from initial earthworks and civils through the main BESS construction programme and towards energisation. Support quality control activities and ensure construction issues are identified, recorded and escalated appropriately. Maintain detailed and accurate site records throughout project delivery. Monitor Principal Contractor performance while maintaining clear client / contractor responsibilities. Liaise closely with project managers, engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders. Support the transition from construction into energisation and commissioning activities. Requirements: Strong Site Management / Construction Management experience within renewable energy or associated power infrastructure. Previous experience operating as a Client Representative / Owner's Site Representative is highly desirable. BESS project experience is preferred, although candidates from utility-scale Solar PV, substations or other renewable infrastructure projects will also be considered. Experience monitoring contractor programmes, construction quality and project progress. Strong record keeping and reporting capability. Confident communicating with Principal Contractors while understanding the boundaries of a client-side site management position. Ability to work predominantly on site and follow the Principal Contractor's working hours. CLIENT REPRESENTATIVE SITE MANAGER (CLIENT SIDE) - SOLAR FARM - SOLAR PV (CORNWALL) Location: Yorkshire Contract: Freelance / Contract Duration: 15 months Sector: Renewable Energy Utility Scale Solar PV The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Client Representative to oversee the construction of a major utility-scale Solar PV development in Yorkshire. Working directly for the project owner, you will act as the client's eyes and ears on site, ensuring the EPC contractor delivers the project safely, to the required quality standards and in accordance with the contract. This role will suit someone who enjoys being present on site, proactively managing contractor performance and providing accurate reporting to the wider project team. The Yorkshire scheme represents the largest project within the client's current UK pipeline and will play a key role in their expanding renewable energy portfolio. Key Responsibilities: Act as the client's on-site representative throughout the construction phase. Monitor EPC contractor performance across safety, quality, programme and technical delivery. Carry out regular site inspections to ensure works are being completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and industry standards. Challenge contractors where required to ensure appropriate quality and HSE standards are maintained. Verify progress against programme and provide accurate updates to the project management team. Review contractor activities and support the assessment of progress claims and variations through factual site reporting. Produce daily and weekly construction reports highlighting progress, risks and key site activities. Attend site meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders. Identify construction risks, potential delays and quality concerns before they impact project delivery. Support commercial discussions by providing accurate site-based information. Requirements: Proven experience working on utility-scale renewable energy construction projects. Strong site-based construction background within Solar PV is preferred. Candidates with wider renewable energy experience including BESS, Wind or HV infrastructure will also be considered. Previous client-side experience is advantageous, although individuals with a strong EPC construction background looking to transition client-side are encouraged to apply. Confident managing contractor performance and holding subcontractors accountable. Strong understanding of construction quality assurance, HSE requirements and project delivery. Reporting into the project delivery team, you will represent the project owner on site, ensuring construction activities are progressing safely, efficiently and to the expected quality standards. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with EPC contractors while maintaining an independent client-side presence throughout delivery. Key Responsibilities: Represent the project owner during construction activities. Monitor the EPC contractor's performance across programme, quality, health & safety and technical compliance. Undertake regular site inspections and identify any issues requiring corrective action. Ensure construction works comply with project specifications, design requirements and industry best practice. Review construction progress and validate completed works against the agreed programme. Produce detailed site reports documenting progress, observations and key risks. Challenge contractor methodologies where standards are not being achieved. Support the wider commercial team by providing factual site information relating to progress, variations and construction activities. Attend coordination meetings with contractors and project stakeholders. Escalate significant construction, quality or programme concerns where necessary. Requirements: Previous experience supervising utility-scale renewable energy construction projects. Solar PV experience is highly desirable. Candidates from other renewable technologies will also be considered. Previous experience working either client-side or for an EPC contractor. Practical, hands-on approach with a strong site presence. Good understanding of construction quality management and HSE legislation. Strong written reporting and stakeholder communication skills.
