This role sits within a Technical Services function and is responsible for providing expert technical advice to both internal and external stakeholders. The Technical Consultant ensures compliance with industry standards, supports product application, and contributes to the delivery of safe and effective passive fire protection solutions. Role Purpose To act as a technical authority on passive fire protection systems, supporting customers, internal teams, and projects through expert guidance, testing, compliance, and training. Key Responsibilities Technical Support & Advisory Provide technical advice via multiple channels (phone, email, online, and face-to-face). Support with product selection, application guidance, and installation best practices. Ensure all advice aligns with current regulations, standards, and industry best practices. Testing & Compliance Design and conduct fire tests to support certification and compliance requirements. Maintain up-to-date testing and certification documentation within internal systems. Produce technical reports demonstrating compliance with relevant building regulations and standards. Project & Technical Leadership Act as the technical lead on passive fire protection projects. Support the development of technical solutions and continuous product improvement. Work closely with internal teams to strengthen technical capability and service delivery. Training & Knowledge Development Deliver product and technical training to internal teams and external stakeholders. Continuously develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of products, systems, and regulatory changes. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work cross-functionally to enhance technical service and customer support. Share insights, identify issues, and contribute to improvements in technical processes and solutions. Compliance & Governance Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements. Escalate technical uncertainties appropriately to senior stakeholders. Additional Responsibilities Support customer service objectives and team KPIs. Undertake occasional travel as required. Carry out any other reasonable duties aligned with the role. Candidate Requirements Qualifications Degree-level education (or equivalent experience). Relevant qualification in passive fire protection or fire safety (desirable). Industry certifications (e.g. fire safety qualifications) are advantageous. Experience & Skills Strong technical knowledge of passive fire protection products and systems. Experience in fire testing and certification processes (desirable). Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Understanding of construction methods and building practices. Excellent customer service skills across multiple communication channels. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing. Confident presentation and training delivery skills. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organisational and workload prioritisation abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
