Senior Quantity Surveyor Glasgow Location: Glasgow / Stepps Hybrid Working Job Type: Permanent Sector: Water / Utilities / Civil Engineering / MEICA We are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of a major design and build contractor delivering significant projects across the UK water sector. Based from the Glasgow area with hybrid working available, you will take commercial responsibility for projects and work packages, working alongside experienced engineering, construction and commercial teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience across water, utilities, civil engineering or MEICA projects, particularly those with a strong understanding of NEC contracts. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, responsibilities as a Senior Quantity Surveyor will include: Commercial management of projects and individual work packages Liaising with design, construction and supply chain teams to capture, analyse and control project costs Working collaboratively with the client to ensure commercial and business requirements are achieved Managing the main contract and ensuring contractual notices and correspondence are identified and raised Preparing and issuing subcontract documentation Assisting with subcontractor management and performance Managing applications for payment Preparing project cost and value reports Producing budgets and forecasts Supporting the management and development of junior commercial staff Maintaining strong commercial relationships with internal and external stakeholders Ideally as a Senior Quantity Surveyor you ll have: A degree or equivalent commercial qualification Experience within utilities, civil engineering, water or MEICA Good working knowledge of NEC3 Experience managing projects or significant commercial work packages Strong subcontract and supply chain commercial experience Chartered status or be working towards membership of a recognised professional institution Experience managing or developing junior members of a commercial team would be advantageous. Based from Hampton in South West London, this is a hybrid position typically requiring three days per week from the office/project environment. The role will involve taking commercial responsibility for major projects and work packages, including projects valued in excess of £5 million, and would particularly suit a Senior QS with experience of NEC or IChemE contracts within water, utilities, civil engineering or MEICA. The role would suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, although applications are also welcomed from strong Quantity Surveyors looking to take the next step into a Senior QS position. Candidates with experience of NEC contracts and water, utilities, civil engineering or MEICA projects would be particularly well suited. The position is based from Chelmsford with hybrid working available, and the client is open to considering either a permanent appointment or an experienced contractor. Working as part of an established commercial team, you will take commercial responsibility for projects and key work packages, working closely with operational, design and supply chain teams. Responsibilities as a Senior Quantity Surveyor will include: Commercial management of projects and work packages Managing project costs, value, budgets and forecasts Preparing cost and value reports Managing applications for payment Managing the main contract and ensuring appropriate contractual notices and correspondence are raised Preparing and issuing subcontract documentation Supporting the procurement and management of subcontractors Liaising with design, construction and supply chain teams to monitor and control cost Working collaboratively with the client and wider project team Supporting and developing junior members of the commercial team where appropriate About You We are interested in speaking with candidates who have: Previous Quantity Surveying experience within water, utilities, civil engineering, infrastructure or MEICA Good working knowledge of NEC contracts Experience commercially managing projects or significant work packages Strong subcontract and supply chain management experience Experience with applications for payment, forecasting, cost reporting and commercial controls A degree or equivalent commercial qualification would be advantageous You may already be operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level, or you could be an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is ready to take on greater commercial responsibility.
