The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a Senior Quantity Surveyor on refurbishment projects to local council-run schools, healthcare facilities, town halls and housing so will have 4+ years experience and be looking to develop their career on a broad spectrum of project types with a respected builder. We are looking for a Health and Safety Officer to join an industrial special works and hard FM main contractor with projects throughout Essex and Northeast London. The family owned, £30m a year turnover company has an interesting, diverse portfolio of projects ranging from office fit outs, to live factory modifications, re-roofing and mezzanine instals each valued from £200k to £3m. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct frequent, unannounced inspections across a number of individual construction projects to monitor and enforce strict compliance with company health and safety policies and all relevant statutory regulations then produce detailed, high-quality reports on audit findings, non-compliance issues, incident investigations, and all preventative/corrective actions taken. These reports will then be presented to the H&S Manager and the Board so this is an important, business critical role requiring the highest levels of diligence and responsibility. Candidate essentials; NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, or NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent professional qualification). CSCS Card (Gold, Black or White). Driving License Minimum of 5 years practical experience working in a dedicated health and safety role within the construction industry. Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience using Microsoft Project for reporting and scheduling purposes. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to take full responsibility for 2-4 projects all the way from working up a scope of works with the client through to delivery and handover. Our client has a permanent presence at most of the premises at which they work, keeping prelims down, so their margins are enviable and the business model is attracting a reliable stream of works so prospects for advancement also exist.
