About the Role We are seeking an experienced Surveyor (Disrepair) to deliver a high-quality surveying service across the council's housing stock. This is a key interim role focused on progressing housing disrepair claims through to completion, ensuring works are delivered to time, cost, and quality standards while minimising financial risk. The successful candidate will manage disrepair cases across North and South Lambeth, providing expert technical advice, detailed specifications, and effective contractor oversight. Key Responsibilities Progress repairs related to disrepair claims from inspection to completion. Review expert reports and Letters of Claim. Conduct pre-works inspections and prepare detailed specifications using SOR codes. Diagnose complex structural and repair issues in occupied and void properties. Prepare specifications relating to claims under Section 11 and Environmental Protection Act (EPA). Monitor contractor performance and resolve disputes where necessary. Undertake post-inspections and quality checks on completed works. Liaise with Repairs Cost Team to ensure value for money and cost control. Provide technical advice to non-technical staff and support case officers. Ensure safeguarding principles are applied during resident visits. Promote sustainability, affordable warmth, and reduction in CO emissions in construction practices. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including Health & Safety, Data Protection, and Equality legislation. Key Accountabilities Deliver prompt and effective resolution of legal disrepair claims. Produce accurate, professional repair specifications. Manage contractor relationships and variations effectively. Provide written and verbal reports on contract performance. Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge and quality assurance systems. Support a collaborative, inclusive and resident-focused working environment. Essential Knowledge BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying or equivalent demonstrable experience Knowledge of repairs administration systems, databases, and void management processes. Essential Experience Experience in a fast-paced surveying role within a housing repairs service. Proven experience managing variations and post inspections. Strong contractor management experience.
