Your new company As the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades and support operatives. Hays is seeking to recruit a Maintenance Electrician for HMP Hindley. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the prison service and can often lead to permanent opportunities. Hours: 39 hours 1 in 3 weekends Your new role Planned and preventative electrical maintenance. Diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components. Responding to breakdowns, ensuring all work is carried out under the appropriate Safe System of Work and in a timely manner. Actively fault-finding / problem-solving on domestic electrical systems across the prison. Undertaking electrical installation activities in accordance with the design provided and IET Wiring Regulations. Testing and inspecting electrical installations in accordance with the current IEE wiring regulations. Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services. What you'll need to succeed Appropriate technical qualifications, e.g. City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at work Regulations. Capable of working at heights. You must be able to pass a full prison security clearance and enhanced DBS (if required). Hays and the MOJ are responsible for organising all security clearances and DBS. You must hold a valid passport or Full Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence at your current address. Your New Company: We are recruiting an experienced carpenter/joiner to work at HMP Risley, expected to be ongoing on a temporary basis for the next few months. This is a temporary to permanent contract. Your new role: As a Carpenter/Joiner, you'll be involved in a wide range of tasks crucial to our daily operations. Your responsibilities will typically include: To carry out joinery work, examples of work include making stairs, doors, windows, signposts, formwork and other bespoke timber items. Measure and quote for works Order materials Maintain stock of building maintenance materials Fit out company vehicles for other departments To organise and plan your daily work with the supervisor, to record and submit all details of work carried out on relevant work orders To drive a vehicle if necessary in connection with work. Carry out daily vehicle checks and complete associated paperwork Responsible for joinery workshop - maintenance of machines, statutory inspections, housekeeping and cleanliness To participate in the Service's out-of-hours emergency standby rota when the need arises and if necessary due to contractual or staff circumstances To complete statutory records as required To provide technical advice where required To undertake out of hours callout duties as per rota requirements. Details: Pay Frequency: Weekly 1 in 3 weekends Working Hours: 39 hours per week What you'll need to succeed You will need to be honest, hard-working, reliable, trustworthy and have great attention to detail, alongside being an excellent team player. All applicants who are interested in the position must pass Prison Clearance, which can take up to 8 weeks or more. You will need a passport or photo driving licence to apply for clearance. Once passed, this is valid for 5 years and can be transferred to any other prisons of a similar category.
