About the Junior Estimator role: As a Junior Estimator, you ll play a key role in pricing and preparing construction tenders, developing strong subcontractor relationships, and supporting tender submissions to a consistently high standard. You will take ownership of tender packages for specific trades, ensuring all bids are accurate, competitive, and submitted on time. Main responsibilities of the Junior Estimator include: Preparing and pricing tenders Preparing subcontractor bid packages and ensuring strong subcontractor coverage Using creativity and resourcefulness to obtain improved pricing from subcontractors Reviewing bid requirements thoroughly and raising follow-up questions on every tender Developing RFIs and clarifications to reduce exclusions and improve tender accuracy Carrying out detailed tender analysis for review at tender meetings Producing bid lists aligned to project scope and ensuring the right subcontractors are engaged Liaising with clients and subcontractors to minimise tender exclusions Suggesting value-engineering options to deliver best value for clients Reviewing awarded tender drawings alongside the Project Team and highlighting potential issues Identifying subcontractors/materials requiring lead times and ensuring suppliers meet programme dates Seeking and qualifying new subcontractors and suppliers in line with HSQE requirements Managing subcontractor interactions to build long-term relationships Working closely with teams across the business (QS, Project Management, Accounting, HSQE and Buying) Ensuring bids and budgets are completed and submitted 100% by the deadline Double-checking all deliverables to minimise errors Following established estimating processes and company procedures Taking off dimensions from drawings using Bluebeam and populating Bills of Quantities (BOQ) Setting up tender folders in line with the tender folder template and ensuring all documentation is correctly filed At peak tender times, you may be required to work flexibly to meet deadlines and ensure submissions are completed to the highest standard.
