The Company is looking for an experienced Estimator who can work with the Commercial team in preparing and controlling budgets and cost reconciliations on residential building sites such as Hertfordshire, Berkshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North and West London Boroughs. Applicants will ideally have worked in the housebuilding industry or other affiliated industries such as for a groundworks or bricklaying subcontractor, a cost consultancy / PQS firm or for a social hosing contractor.

The role will entail auditing, risk reviewing, quality inspection and reporting across a broad area of both internal processes, industry standards and suppliers. It will also include training and guiding staff to work with quality control systems and to expected standards. You will be involved with the assessing and setting of internal policies, keeping updated on external standards, as well as monitoring that they are complied with throughout design and construction processes. You will have worked within the construction industry and be from a Quality Assurance / Auditing / Compliance background with strong report writing and presentation skills with a proactive attitude to source information and knowledge. As the role is for a construction company, travel between and working on projects as well as working from the head office is expected and a CSCS card will be required.

You will be working on a range of construction projects covering Wiltshire and Berkshire, including refurbishments, extensions, listed building renovations, barn conversions, and more. The role will entail measuring, taking off and producing bills of quantities. As many of the projects are refurbs, measuring may take place at a client meeting at a project without drawings, or be done from plans at the office. It will also entail seeking out quotes from subcontractors, material suppliers, consultants etc, and building and maintaining a library of costs for future reference. The role will continue through the construction process and oversee valuations and variations. Candidates will need to have previously worked in an estimating or quantity surveying role for a construction company, and able to travel across the Wiltshire and Berkshire area.

This role would suit a candidate who has worked in a similar role for a housebuilder, housing association or contractor dealing with new build residential projects with a thorough knowledge of NHBC and HBF policies, procedures, standards and customer satisfaction surveys. Candidates will either ideally: - be from a trade or Site Management background. - have worked in a role such as an NHBC Inspector or similar. - have worked for a housebuilder / residential developer / housing association within their customer care department, or within Quality Control. The role will entail taking the lead on all utility matters, from feasibility work and disconnections, through to the design and installation of new connections. It will also involve managing new and existing relationships with various utility providers, monitoring progress made and ensuring design & working drawings are efficiently managed and organised. You will have previously worked in a role that links utilities and construction, such as working for a utilities provider in a Technical Coordinator role or within a new connections department, or working directly for a construction company liaising with utilities companies, or for a utilities design consultancy. The role will suit someone process driven, who is logical and able to prioritise their work in the right order to make progress. As the role is for a construction company, driving between sites and attending project meetings is expected, as well as working from the head office.
