Store Manager/Site Technician Oldham I am working with a busy and successful Geotechnical and Environmental company who are looking for a Store manager/Site Technician in the Oldham area. Summary The role includes assisting and implementing the organisation of the yard and stores in conjunction with undertaking site-based monitoring of gas, groundwater, extensometer and inclinometer instrumentation. The role will also involve on occasions site based in-situ testing predominantly in relation to monitoring wells but may also include ground testing techniques. The role will also include transporting goods to site and back to the office and assisting site workers when necessary. The Store Manager / Site Technician is expected to ensure that all tasks and technical work is carried out to a high standard and on time. Key division of time spent on each part of the job will be set on an annual basis and reviewed regularly. Key tasks: Keeping yard and store tidy Delivery of samples and equipment between store/yard/site/laboratory Logging in and adequate storing of samples Disposal of samples Stock keeping Record keeping Execution of gas, groundwater, extensometer and inclinometer instrumentation monitoring. Execution of site based in-situ testing such as but not limited to permeability testing, dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP) testing, hand vane testing, pocket penetrometer testing or mexe cone testing You will be expected to manage your own time, maintain effective communication with the office/Project managers and will ensure all relevant records are kept up to date. Stock taking experience will be an advantage, training will be provided for the site technician/monitoring side of this role. You will be expected to drive to sites over the whole uk so a full driving licence is required. There may be very occasional overnight stays required also. Senior Geotechnical/Geo-Environmental Consultant Based from home – anywhere in UK My client is a busy SME Ground Investigation Company who looking for a talented Senior Geotechnical/Geo-Environmental consultant. Duties: * Undertaking Phase I & II geo-environmental ground investigations * Proficient in undertaking intrusive site investigation works for geotechnical and environmental purposes * Reporting of Phase I & II geo-environmental site investigations * Quantitative risk assessment for human health, controlled waters, ground gas and vapours * Supervision of remediation works and earthworks * Liaison with clients * All project work must be carried out with due diligence, adhering to procedures and completed within the given cost budgets and time scales agreed, with the specific aim of meeting and exceeding the clients need at all times Person specification: * A minimum five years background in a similar position * A good understanding of water, ground and soil gas site investigation techniques and assessments. * A good understanding of contaminated land regulatory and legislative framework * A good knowledge of the principal soil and rock strata encountered in the UK and able to log samples using the descriptions contained within BS:5930 * Familiar with and able to interpret geological maps and geological data * Able to use the conceptual model to design and justify the nature and scope of site investigation works * Able to complete factual and interpretative Phase I & II assessments * Able to deliver projects * Provide strong technical leadership and mentoring skills to less experienced staff * Strong track record in managing time and resources effectively and within budget * Full UK driving licence Salary £32,000 - £45,000 depending on experience Pension This is an expanding SME who are looking for a senior with strong report writing skills and who is able to manage their own time and is happy to work independently. Geo-Environmental/Geotechnical Engineer Wales/Caerphilly My client is a well-established, leading regional Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Consultancy who provide services to the construction industry. They are looking for a Geo-Environmental/Geotechnical Engineer for their offices in Wales. Job description The job role comprises delivery of ground investigations from desk study and conceptual site modelling, through to the completion of both factual and interpretative reporting. The role will include: * planning, setting up and supervising intrusive site investigations, * managing project budgets, * compilation of factual information, * technical appraisal of data, including human health and controlled waters risk assessment, * interpretive reporting including provision of geotechnical recommendations. The successful candidate should have: * experience of soil and rock logging to current standards, * excellent report writing skills, * project management and organisational skills, * be familiar with working to relevant health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations, * good working knowledge of appropriate software packages, including Microsoft Office 365, Holebase logging package (or similar), and experience in CAD beneficial but not essential, * a BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng in Geology, Civil Engineering or related field, * a Full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle. Salary - up to £35,000 per year, subject to experience, including private healthcare and other benefits to be discussed at interview. The role will include a combination of office, home and site working as required. Site work typically within a short drive from the office, or within a 1-to-2-hour drive covering South Wales, Bristol and the South West. Occasional/rare further travel required.
