SHEQ Advisor – Power OR Fibre OR Water OR Gas experience Location: Barking Position: Permanent – Full time Role Description: To assist in the management in the health, safety, quality and environmental matters within our clients group of companys through the provision of professional advice and solutions, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice. The role will involve occasional weekend and/or night work. Principle Duties and Accountabilities: To aid in the development and implementation of Health and Safety best practice, ensuring the Company complies with current health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice and guidance in relation to employment and service provision. To work proactively with all levels of management, so to establish and maintain a safe system of work and a safe environment for colleagues and clients. There is a minimum requirement of one site audit a month on each team and sub-contractor delivering your assigned contracts. This may require working out of hours from time to time including occasional night working. • Ensure that all sites are CDM compliant and the relevant documentation is in place and in date. • Ensure site notice boards are current and are erected in the appropriate place. • Attend clients contract meetings as and when required (in addition to a SHEQ Advisor). • Carryout company inductions for all new starters and ensure that the relevant paperwork has been completed in its entirety along with undertaking re-inductions for existing employees and contractors. • Assist in the preparation of pre-qualification questionnaire’s (PQQs) and tender documentation • Assist the Manager in compiling records from SHEQ related meetings. • Investigate the root causes of accidents, the circumstances leading up to them, introduce preventative measures to prevent reoccurrence and compiling the required reports and forwarding them to the SHEQ Manager/Director in a timely manner. • Assist the Manager in identifying training requirements. • Facilitate employee rep meetings and record minutes of the meeting. Ensure that any actions arising from the meetings has the name of the person who is responsible for closing out the action and a close out date • Ensure that when employees have done well, they are praised, where they have contributed to a change within the company they are informed and that actions arising from meetings/inspections are fed back to the employee/contractor. • Co-ordinate with the SHEQ Department in all health, safety, environment and quality matters. • Set a good personal example, wearing the required protective equipment for the site you are entering. Construction Planner/ Senior Planner – Construction Location: Potters Bar Coverage: UK Role Description: To provide planning and design services for carrying out functions related to the installation and civils works associated with power cable installation. Principle Duties and Accountabilities: • Undertaking desktop and site surveys • Production of a paving schedules • Prepare programme of works • Updating schedules and diagrams • Preparation of project RAMS • Planning of joint bay locations • Preparation of post project R1’s • Contributes to as built records • Application and monitoring of noticing. Senior Project Manager - Electrical/ Construction SALARY: £60k to £65k JOB PURPOSE To ensure the effective and efficient management of projects differing in size in a range from £1m to £30m including the management of staff, finance, safety, commercial and technical issues associated with major electrical projects. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. As the leader of a team programme and plan the technical activities required carry out a project to a specified client requirement. This includes the preparation of design documentation, method statements and risk assessments, together with other safety related paperwork. 2. Produce, report and communicate, at the highest level within the companys and the client organisation, the progress of the project with regards to time, cost and quality. 3. Be prepared to be both site and office based to lead and motivate a team dealing with both commercial and technical issues associated with the project. 4. Ensure all legal and statutory requirements associated with operational works are met. In particular actions necessary to meet the requirements of the New Road & Streetworks Act, Electricity at Work Act and distribution safety rules. 5. Take an active role in the local coaching of staff to ensure the developmental needs of both the individual and the business are met. 6. Manage the project account with regards to the financial status of the project, ensuring, via the commercial team, all commercial activity is carried out in a timely fashion, and variations to original specification are correctly claimed. 7. Ensure accidents are avoided and hazards highlighted to reduce injury caused unnecessarily and help warn others of potential problems, Including the duties of principal contractor under CDM regulations. 8. Understand the contractual obligations of the project to ensure full compliance with the client’s requirements and manage the documentation in a professional manner which gives clarity to anyone wishing to understand exactly where the project is at any given point in time. 9. Manage the high level issues with regards to the supply chain and ensure the efficient management of suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure the project targets are met. 10. Ensure compliance with the EDF Energy Project Way model for delivery of major projects and ensure gate deadlines are met and information supplied. NATURE AND SCOPE Working closely with the Head of Major Project Delivery, key responsibility will be to deliver projects within clearly defined time and budgetary constraints, to a specification given by the client. Design of EHV Networks is a primary function of this role, although detailed sign will be carried out by design staff. Management of both a direct staff team and contractors is an essential part of this role whereby safety is paramount together with statutory obligations associated with NRSWA requirements. Management of plant call off and delivery such as switchgear, transformers and cable will also form part of the role. The financial budget associated with each project will require management to ensure profit is maximised wherever possible. The job holder would need to be self motivated and proficient in basic IT skills. Although office based, on site visits would be required to attend customer meetings and understand on site. The job holder will need to have excellent people management and communication skills in order to coach, motivate and develop staff together with interacting with all stakeholders at the highest levels. The job requires the postholder to be educated to HNC level and be able to demonstrate recent relevant experience within the electrical industry. Lastly the post requires the understanding of current CDM regulations in order to provide a service expected by many of the blue chip clients
