(Assistant Quantity Surveyor) - Position Overview Our client, a well-established construction company based in Dunston, is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team. In this role, you will support the commercial management of projects for external clients, helping ensure projects are delivered efficiently and within budget. In this role, you will be responsible for developing project scopes, preparing BOQs, and producing accurate pricing submissions, while also supporting the design team and coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders. Position Duties Support the Sales team by reviewing project documentation to assess suitability for tender. Prepare detailed cost submissions, including manual take-offs, drawing mark-ups, and completion of scope spreadsheets. Compile and produce competitive tender returns using bespoke pricing models and internal systems. Clearly outline all clarifications and exclusions to ensure transparency and alignment. Undertake full commercial reviews prior to submission. Attend handover meetings and client appointments and assist with incoming sales enquiries. Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the commercial function. Position Requirements Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within the construction industry. Strong numerical and analytical skills with advanced Microsoft Excel capability. Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and BOQs accurately. Experience within the construction sector, with understanding of standard procedures and methodologies. Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems. Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style. Due to ongoing success, our client now requires an Estimator to join their dynamic and experienced team. You will review jobs, pull together the scope, measure and price works, submit quotations to clients, and support the design process. What's in it for you? Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Position Requirements Experience in construction the construction sector is essential along with estimation experience, our client is happy to consider junior candidate with strong relevant experience. Strong ability to review drawings and specifications, develop scope, and carry out measurements. Ability to prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive quotations. Excellent communication skills with experience liaising with clients, suppliers and subcontractors. Design coordination support experience (or willingness to develop this) and strong attention to detail.
