You will be required to: * Organise weekly programme of works * Establish the level and survey control for contracts * Set out detailed works as per the contract drawings, ensuring checks are carried out on a regular basis * Quality Assurance * Ensure that records are accurate * Solve technical difficulties and assist with any problems that may arise Site Engineer Tickets / Qualifications / Skills: * Previous experience of a site engineer, setting out on civil engineering / groundworks * Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations * Fully conversant with the use of robotic total station or EDM instruments * Degree qualified/HNC (or equivalent) in civil engineering (desirable) * CSCS * Experienced in AUTOCAD and MS Office

Black Book Resourcing, the groundworks and civil engineering specialist, are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join a well established and growing business based in Dunstable. Specialising in the civil engineering and groundworks aspects of the commercial, residential and industrial sector, this is an exciting opportunity to work with a progressing and supportive team. Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities: * Reconcile tender to works and identify any additional works. * Liaise with Site Management and co-produce monthly reporting. * Accurately estimate and evaluate price work of operatives, make decisions on rate of pay, additional rates, and price variations. * Identify additional works carried out not included within the sub-contract * Submit variation costs to the client. * Quantify and value materials on site. * Value prelims. * Assist with the projected final accounts and costs. * Assist with reporting on cash flow. Quantity Surveyor/Estimator Requirements: * Excellent time-keeping. * Attention to detail. * Able to contribute to team meetings. * Able to build relationships with site operatives and negotiate sub-contractor pay. * Effective personal organisational skills. * Literacy and advanced numeracy, IT skills including all Microsoft Office particularly Excel. * Commercial approach to work. * Willing to travel if required. * Experience with a specialist Sub-Contractor. Office is in Dunstable (Can be flexible in terms of WFH) but expect face to face contact in the office with the team. Projects are within a 50 mile radius of Dunstable. Black Book Resourcing is working with an industry renowned civil engineering contractor and are looking for an Estimator to join an expanding team. Working within the Water, Energy and general Civil Engineering sector, this is an excellent opportunity for an estimator to join an established business and move into a position that has scope to grow individually or into a leadership role. Estimator Responsibilities and Duties As the Estimator, you will be reporting directly into the business unit manager, you will be required to perform the following duties competently and autonomously: * Ensure adequate provision in tenders to cover safe methods of work, necessary welfare facilities, and the requirements of the pre-tender Health and Safety plan * Co-ordinate with clients, designers, suppliers and sub-contractors at tender stage * Produce bill of quantities where required * Produce tender programme * Perform pre-contract risk and value-engineering management * Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks * Preparing and analysing costings for tenders * Maintaining awareness of the different forms of contract in current use * Prepare pre-contract handover information for Contracts Team for successful tenders * Maintain tender records on CRM including updating tender results * Administration of tender preparation and submission process in accordance with CIMS requirements, including archiving of unsuccessful bids * Co-operate with other members of staff * Produce quality submission documents in line with the Employer’s Requirements * Produce a weekly estimating department tender programme showing current bids in preparation, personnel resource allocation and any future anticipated enquiries due * Carry out a site visit to fully assess the scope of work required and gain an appreciation on how the physical conditions on site will affect the performance of the Contracts Team in completing the works * Produce cost / income forecasts for schemes where milestone payments are stipulated to ensure a positive cash flow is maintained * Maintain a register of Competitor Contact in accordance with the Company’s Competition Law Compliance Policy Estimator Essential Skills: * Record of first principles estimating * Sound engineering judgement and problem solving skills * Sound technical knowledge (in relation to both design and construction activities) * Strong commercial awareness * Working knowledge of Computer based packages, including spreadsheets, programming, word and excel * Have a willingness to develop personal ability as part of structured training programme * Strong commercial awareness * Full understanding of current H & S legislation, including CDM Estimator - Benefits * Contributory pension scheme * 25 days holiday * Sponsored training * Agile working considered * Company car / allowance
