Job Title : Flood Risk Consultant
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, positive and confident Flood Risk Consultant for our Flood Risk and Water Management Team. Due to our current working practices we expect that this role would be largely home working with 1 or 2 days per week spent working in one of our offices so candidates should be within a commutable distance from one of our hub offices (e.g. Manchester, Leeds , East Grinstead, Sheffield or London). We are seeking a Flood Risk Consultant with flood modelling and/or flood hydrology experience who can contribute to the delivery of flood risk projects and working closely within a team of specialists. Someone who is driven to progress their career and contribute to the development and growth of the team. The candidate should have experience of working in the engineering and flood risk sector and some of the hydraulic modelling, hydrology and GIS software that we use. You need to be hard-working, organised, motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team as you will be communicating both in writing and verbally with colleagues and clients.
The Role:
As a Flood Risk Consultant, you will be responsible for the design, delivery and consultation of:
Hydraulic modelling of river, surface water, sewer drainage or coastal processes (using ICM, Flood Modeller, Tuflow, Hec-RAS etc.)
Hydrological analysis (Flood Estimation Handbook, WINFAP, ReFH2 etc.).
Option Appraisal to achieve Flood Risk Management.
Flood Risk Assessments, Sustainable Drainage Studies, Flood Risk Strategies and Surface Water Management Plans.
Use of GIS software (QGIS, MapInfo, ArcGIS etc.) and large datasets (Excel etc.).
Writing flood risk assessments and technical reports for flood modelling studies.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues and work co-operatively across functions and businesses to deliver joint projects, share information and ideas.
Work closely with senior staff to enable delivery of the wider teams' workload
Manage the delivery of works and be provided training in project managementEssential Qualifications/Experience/Skills
At least two years' experience of hydraulic modelling using either: Flood Modeller, Tuflow, InfoWorks ICM, Hec-RAS.
Experience of using GIS software using either: QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo.
Knowledge or experience of hydrological analysis such as: FEH, WINFAP and ReFH2.
Experience of managing and analysing large complex datasets (this may be in Excel or similar software).
Understanding of hydrological and hydraulic principles and their practical application in the water environment.
Experience of writing flood risk assessments and technical reports for flood studies.
Relevant degree in geography, environmental science, or engineering and appropriate knowledge of flood risk practices and techniques. Preferably a relevant post graduate qualification too.Desirable Qualifications/Experience/Skills
Experience of working within a team and able to demonstrate good communication skills (verbal and written) to colleagues and clients.

Senior Drainage Engineer

Summary
We are looking for a Senior Engineer (Drainage) with a strong infrastructure background who can demonstrate experience in designing drainage and highways, whilst further infrastructure experience may be advantageous. The vacancy is for a core member of a team of over 40 highway Engineers based with the infrastructure team based in our Manchester office. This is to address our current and forward workload opportunities in the drainage field, we are looking to expand our drainage resource levels in Manchester, by recruiting an experienced Senior Engineer.
Responsibilities
Develop drainage solutions for highway, infrastructure and site development schemes for feasibility, planning, tender, and detailed design stages of the project.
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microdrainage and Causeway Flow drainage design software.
Design of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) with good knowledge of relevant current standards and guidelines.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
At least 3 years relevant post degree graduate experience or 5 years experience post HNC/HND.
Thorough understanding of drainage design principles including foul, surface water and SuDS.
Knowledge and understanding of the SAB process.
Be adept with one of MicroDrainage, Civil 3D or PDS, and be well-versed in the preparation of notes and specifications sufficient for technical approvals and construction, ideally with experience of Section 38/278 highway schemes and Section 104/106 drainage schemes.
Producing infrastructure design calculations, drawings & specifications.
Proficient with MicroDrainage and/or Civil 3D.
Strong working knowledge of Section 38 and 278, for highways.
Strong working knowledge of Section 104 and 106 for drainage.
Have excellent communication skills both written & verbal.
Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, Design Standards, Codes of Practice and Health & Safety regulations.
MEng or BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). Ideally Chartered (or working towards) with the ICE.
Desirable
Incorporated Engineer professional qualification (IEng) or someone working towards professional qualifications IEng or CEng.
Clean driving licence.
