About the role:
In this role, you will primarily be responsible for all the commercial and/or operational aspects of the contracts allocated to you by your Manager. You will be provided a diverse portfolio of projects from working on our leakage programme to working on a large DPC (Direct Procurement for Customers) project worth billions of pounds.
You will join one of our established and expanding Commercial Teams and over the course of your career at Thames Water, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects ranging in value from £25k to £200M.
Key Accountabilities:
Annual and final accounting as well as estimating and forecasting.
Ensuring that appropriate processes are in place and monitored on your portfolio of contracts to demonstrate contractual compliance is maintained and any non-performance of the contract is identified, with corrective actions implemented as necessary.
Resolving general disputes and claims as well as providing advice and support to the business.
Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client.
Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
Assisting in establishing the client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
Performing risk, value management, and cost control.
Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
Preparing and analysing costings from received tenders.
Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports.
Valuing completed work and arranging payments.
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent is required for this role.
This role requires someone who is enthusiastic and can take ownership of tasks, think on their feet, devise plans of action and deliver effective solutions.
You must always be able to work semi-autonomously and be professional.
It is essential that you are inquisitive and have meticulous attention to detail.
You should have the ability to hold your ground and offer reasoned advice in a fast-paced environment.
In-depth knowledge of infrastructure and the water industry is preferable.

You will be commercially responsible for up to £10 million of spend, ensuring Thames Water meets all its contractual, legal and commercial obligations whilst engaging and advising professional service colleagues such as Senior Management Accountants and Operations Managers.
A tenacious approach and a keen eye for detail are required whilst carrying out site measurements, estimating/producing month end valuation documentation and assessing payment applications up to £100K in value.
You will safeguard Thames Water against claims in excess of £1 million per annum and deliver efficiency savings to Thames Water of £1 million per annum.
You will oversee the management of 2 FTE therefore the ability to plan, monitor and motivate are key to succeeding in this role.

About the role:
Working as part of a team of 5, this manual role will involve the day-to-day maintenance of the Victorian trunk sewer network in London. You will be responsible for performing a range of assigned activities including routine maintenance; investigations and safety cover.
The normal working hours are 6:30am – 3:45pm; with 1 week out of 5 on night shift from 9:00pm - 5:30am (for which you will receive additional payment). You will be required to participate in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota (typically 1 week in 10), for which you will also receive an additional payment.
This role involves but not limited to:
Woking in confined spaces (obtaining a CP2 confined space rescue qualification), at heights and lifting heavy loads – all mandatory for this role.
Physical maintenance of the sewer network and associated assets e.g. penstock gates. Operation of plant and equipment. Cleaning, basic maintenance and fault-finding, the sewer cleaning programme along with surveys and safety cover for contractors Essential Health and Safety requirements
This role requires you to be physically fit and comfortable with working in water, working at heights and within the confined space of sewers and the like.
As a part of the critical safety requirements you must be clean shaven at all times and due to the lifting equipment for man-riding you must weigh less than 110kgs at all times in this role.
You will also need to participate in a pre-employment medical. What skills are we looking for?
As well as meeting the essential health and safety requirements, this role will suit someone that has previously held a manual labouring role and will be capable of carrying out all tasks.
You will be required to work outdoors and in confined spaces all year round and mainly in underground assets; therefore it is essential that you are, prepared to work in a challenging environment on a daily basis.
You must be willing to get stuck in, with a proactive approach to your work and demonstrate how you can positively contribute to a team.
A full manual valid UK driving licence is essential; 7.5t licence is desirable.
Drainage knowledge and a mechanical background would be advantageous as well as a desire to learn. What’s in it for you:
