The Role: To provide ongoing electrical installation delivery across the Culham site. The job holder (JH) will lead on a wide range of electrical work in an industrial environment covering installation, commissioning, fault-finding, maintenance and repair in accordance with current legislation and codes of practice. Essential and desirable skills: * Take responsibility for installation phase of projects ensuring Safe Systems of Work are followed, working to a plan, being flexible and keeping to timescales, including leading installation teams. * Install indoor and outdoor electrical distribution equipment in compliance with current regulations and local standards. * Undertake the construction, wiring and commissioning of electrical control cubicles. * Perform testing, commissioning and fault-finding tasks on various electrical control and distribution equipment. * Setting work, supervising and providing guidance and supervision to less experienced electricians and electrical apprentices. * Work on various projects with diverse teams across site with the ability to prioritise daily tasks and allocate work to team members according to the appropriate work plan for each project. * Maintain high standards of safety at all times and comply with safety procedures. Specific Qualifications/Experience: * Electrical craft apprenticeship. * City and Guilds 2357 (AM3), or equivalent, updated to BS 7671: 18th edition. * City and Guilds 2395 (inspection and testing) or equivalent. * Must demonstrate the ability to work safely in accordance with a written safe system of work (WSSOW). * Previous work experience in an industrial/commercial environment. * Should ideally demonstrate knowledge of large distribution networks. * Supervisory experience is desirable. * Work and communicate as part of a team. * Ability to solve problems. * Ability to prioritise and balance the workload. We are looking for someone with a consistent and proven track record of delivering projects within the Fire and Security Market, both in construction and Blue-Chip end user environments. The role will require will be based within the Southeast but may involve travel for some wider projects. Our client, a market leader within the Utilities industry, is looking to recruit a Building Compliance Surveyor on a contract basis for 6 months initially. The purpose of this role is to design and deliver a programme for managing all required building compliance activities including re-inspection surveys and identified routine maintenance activities to enable statutory compliance with applicable legislation. Accountabilities * Planning and undertaking compliance surveys and routine maintenance activities on a large portfolio of building assets across the business * To carry out ad-hoc building compliance surveys of any type on property, write reports and make suitable recommendations regarding remedial action where necessary. * Carry out ad-hoc compliance sampling including asbestos and legionella and interpret analysis reports for communication to relevant stakeholders * Create and deliver emergency short term reactive (make safe) solutions and long term remedial action plans including the instruction and supervision of remedial works on site. * Undertake small Non-Licensed asbestos removal/repair activities as identified * To be responsible for managing major remedial projects, acting in the operational interests of the business at all times and to supervise compliance technicians during minor remedial projects to ensure compliance. * Prepare inspection records and recommend remedial works to ensure Health and Safety compliance with current regulations * Define and scope solutions that are specific to operational sites and their uses * Maintains all Building Compliance registers for all building assets * To maintain any equipment including personal protective equipment (PPE) and Respiratory Protective equipment (RPE) that may be used as part of the surveying and sampling process. * Provide expert technical advice to the business relating to relevant statutory compliance legislation and best practice. Knowledge and Skills * Working towards a relevant degree. * Experience in at least one of the following: * Asbestos Surveying, Management and Non-Licensed removal and as a minimum will hold valid BOHS P402 and P405 qualifications or equivalent, current UKATA/ARCA non-licensed removal certification and have a minimum of 12 months experience in asbestos surveying and sampling * Legionella Surveying, as a minimum will hold valid BOHS P900, P901 & P903 qualifications, WMSoc or C&G equivalent and have a minimum of 12 months experience in Legionella Risk Assessments and management of written schemes * Fire Risk Assessment, as a minimum will hold NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management and have a minimum of 12 months experience in fire risk assessment and risk assessment reviews * In depth and comprehensive knowledge of legislation pertaining to building compliance including but not limited to asbestos, legionella and fire and understand the control measures required to ensure compliance with relevant legislation. * Highly proficient at problem solving to enable definition of bespoke remedial solutions whilst fully understanding any impact on operational activity * A critical ability to work safely to prevent the exposure of a hazardous material to themselves or others around them during the course of their work * Membership in a relevant professional body such as IOSH, WMSoC or IFSM and maintenance of professional competence and keeping up to date with changes in relevant regulations and best practice. * Hold a full UK driving license Should your application be successful, and you are offered the role, a number of pre-employment checks need to be carried out before your appointment can be confirmed.
