Our well-established client is a leading global integrator of communications and security solutions for businesses, industries and governments. They offer a wide range of installation, maintenance and commissioning solutions which are suitable for both Hazardous and Non-Hazardous environments. The company are looking for a HSQE Engineer to predominantly work in its busy rail sector.
The Role
Reporting to the senior management team, the postholder will be responsible for the maintenance business management systems and will continually audit these systems whilst ensuring that the project management plans are implemented, and contracts are audited. Other responsibilities of the role include:
* Demonstrable experience of Rail Industry HSQE requirements, to join the Team on an interim freelance basis and to be based at our Head Office in Warwick.
* You’ll be responsible for ensuring the existing management systems they use are maintained and for the continual auditing of these systems and existing procedures. As well as providing support to the rest of the HSQE team you’ll be required to visit sites around the UK to complete auditing of works against procedures and management plans.
* Ideally you will hold a formal audit qualification and must be NEBOSH & IEMA certified and have first-hand experience of fronting RISQS audits.
* Clear experience of leading risk assessments and incident investigations would be advantageous in this role.
* You’ll need excellent communication skills, be confident in dealing with colleagues and clients at all levels, be able to provide mentoring and coaching when appropriate, taking charge and giving specific instructions and direction when required.
* You should be able to review a situation from all perspectives and make decisions that work for all involved parties.
Requirements
* Ideally a NEBOSH Diploma although would consider NEBOSH Certificate
* Current PTS is essential
* An audit competence is also required, can be either ISO9001, ISO14001 or ISO 45001 specific

Job Purpose
To provide building control surveying / site inspections on a variety of developments to check for compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
Overview of Responsibilities
Duties of the post include, but are not limited to:
* Inspecting buildings being constructed and / or converted, working closely with Developers and Builders to ensure the works are in accordance with Building Regulations.
* Effectively self-manage, by forward-planning own workload, to provide a responsive, helpful and professional service whilst maximising time spent on site.
* Recording inspection details on the data base and communicating comments to customers.
* Ongoing liaison with Surveyors and Management on technical matters – to ensure that standards are being maintained and procedures adhered to.
* Ongoing liaison with Developers / Clients / Builders, offering technical advice and guidance.
* Undertake any other duties as reasonably required.
Experience / Skills
* Full member of professional organisations: MRICS / MCABE or similar in the appropriate discipline of Building Control.
* 5 years relevant BC experience, plan check and site inspections and relevant warranty, quality or defect resolution experience.
* Appropriate knowledge and understanding of the Building Regulations, associated legislation and construction standards.
* Basic understanding of latent defect risk management and the methods for mitigating claims.
* Basic understanding of general insurance principals and terminology desirable.
* Ability to undertake site inspections to assess both quality and the cause/effect of building defects.
* Commercial awareness and ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to create good working relationships with other construction professionals
* Ability to meet deadlines and manage own workload within agreed parameters.
* Demonstrable ability to use own initiative.
* Ability to motivate self and influence others.
* Excellent Customer Services skills and experience of Relationship Management.
* Flexible in personal approach.
* Working knowledge of MS Outlook (email), MS Word, MS Excel.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Ability to fulfil the mobility requirements of a site surveying role, including (but not limited to) the ability to:

Their unique range of services and products which have been researched, invented and manufactured in-house at their workshops in the UK, mean that they are able to offer the latest solutions and technologies to clients, helping them to maximise their warehouse floor efficiency.
The Role
* The position is Huddersfield based but the candidate must be willing to travel, often at short notice, throughout the UK and overseas to carry out surveying or testing and / or supervise on-site floor construction of short and long term projects up to 6 weeks.
* Opportunity to work in places such as Australia, Dubai, Thailand and China.
* As well as carrying out specialist surveying and testing, the candidate is required to work with contractors and their workforce on flooring projects monitoring the construction process to ensure that construction tolerances and materials quality requirements are met.
* The client has particular expertise of high tolerance and 'Superflat’ floors.
* Surveying, testing and flooring experience would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be given.
* Starting salary of £21,389, reviewed after initial training period. A company car will also be provided when the candidate reaches a required level of competency. Pension scheme and 23 days annual leave plus stats.
Main duties will include
* Floor Flatness Surveys using our in-house equipment
* Floor Testing & Report writing to include Level Survey, Slip Resistance testing, Screed Testing and Abrasion Resistance Testing

Key Skills and Requirements
* The candidate will ideally hold qualifications in Building or Civil Engineering at HNC, HND or degree level
* The candidate must be computer literate with experience in using Microsoft Excel
* It is also desirable but not essential for the candidate to be competent in the use of AutoCAD
* Full Driving License is essential
* The candidate should hold a full UK Passport
* Good communication skills and team spirit approach
* CSCS card is desirable but not essential
