The Clerk of Works is responsible for overseeing the quality and safety of building maintenance and major capital refurbishment & compliance projects within the Housing Assets and Investments team, conducting inspections, checks, and supervisory duties to ensure all work meets the required standards. To monitor and report on building construction works in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with design specifications, Building Regulations, Planning, and other statutory regulations, in collaboration with delivery teams. To collaborate with all stakeholders and support a professional multi-disciplinary team delivering a multimillion-pound programme to ensure fully compliant construction projects. Strong track record in Clerk of Works experience with demonstrable competence in Contractor/Designer liaison within construction in accordance with the JCT and NEC forms of contract.

Are you a Building Safety Manager, that prefers more operational Project based work, working with a great team. The role will include the following: Ensure the department complies with the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Order 2005 and all other relevant regulations and standards. Lead on the delivery of remedial action plans identified as part of the Building Safety case review process. Lead the coordination of works to be undertaken within high risk buildings to ensure they comply with the requirements of the Building Safety Act and that works do not compromise the building integrity or safety performance. Lead on the delivery of remedial actions for all buildings relevant to current legislation as required by assessment, report, and the coordination of those works. Responsible for coordinating internal staff as well as managing external contractors through a range of contracts to ensure works are delivered to a high standard.

The position is for a Repair Surveyor or Building Surveyor on an initial six-month contract. The role requires a strong presence in the office (minimum three days per week), with regular site visits throughout the district to manage reactive repairs and maintenance issues. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team environment, sharing responsibilities and contributing to the efficient operation of property services. Responsibilities Undertake property inspections related to reactive repairs, maintenance, damp, and other building issues. Respond promptly to repair requests and manage cases from initiation through resolution. Split time between office-based duties (reporting, coordination) and site visits within the district. Share duty roles fairly with other team members to ensure balanced workload distribution. Liaise with contractors, tenants, and internal stakeholders as necessary. Maintain accurate records of inspections, recommendations, and completed works. Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety standards. Requirements Previous experience working as a Repair Surveyor or Building Surveyor within a local authority or housing association setting is highly desirable. Strong background in reactive repairs and maintenance for residential properties (HRA focus). Experience in commercial surveying is advantageous but not essential. Ability to work predominantly from the office (minimum three days per week), with flexibility for additional days as needed. Full UK driving license required; willingness to travel across the district for site visits. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
