Estimator / Quantity Surveyor Groundworks & RC Location: Harrow, London Type: Freelance / Self-Employed Hours: Full-time Start: Immediate / ASAP The Role We are currently looking for an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join an established construction business based in Harrow . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in groundworks, reinforced concrete, formwork and RC frames, with solid experience in estimating, pricing and commercial management within the construction sector. This is a hands-on role working closely with the wider commercial team to price incoming enquiries, prepare tenders and help secure new work. Key Responsibilities Reviewing incoming enquiries and tender opportunities. Preparing accurate estimates and competitive tenders. Pricing groundworks, reinforced concrete, formwork and RC frame packages. Preparing bills of quantities and reviewing drawings/specifications. Obtaining and reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotations. Liaising with clients, main contractors and QSs. Following up submitted quotations and assisting with negotiations. Supporting the commercial team with securing new projects. Maintaining accurate tender and pricing records. Identifying commercial risks and opportunities within tenders. About You The successful candidate will ideally have: Proven experience as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor or Estimator/QS within construction. Strong experience in groundworks and reinforced concrete . Knowledge of formwork and RC frame projects. Experience pricing packages for main contractors. Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation. Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. The ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders simultaneously. The Opportunity The initial position will be on a freelance / self-employed basis , with the preference for someone who can work full-time and be office-based in Harrow .
