The role is 37 hours per week, offering flexible working between 07:00 and 19:00, with an operational hybrid working arrangement requiring attendance at a Cambridgeshire depot and site locations a minimum of 4 days per week. The position offers £250 per day Umbrella and is expected to run until March 2027. Investigating reported defects, drainage issues and highway maintenance concerns. Responding to highway incidents including flooding, traffic collisions, oil spills and other emergency situations. Ordering, coordinating and monitoring highway maintenance works through contractors. Planning and prioritising reactive, preventative and cyclical maintenance programmes. Engaging with local communities, Parish and Town Councils, elected members and other key stakeholders. Recording inspections, defects and customer enquiries through digital management systems. Ensuring the highway network is maintained safely and in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with: Experience working within Highways & Transport in a similar role. Reactive highway maintenance activities and coordinating emergency responses. Highway inspections, defect identification and maintenance management. Managing customer reports and enquiries through digital systems. Working with elected members and managing stakeholder relationships proactively. Highway legislation, maintenance standards and inspection procedures. Working autonomously and making operational decisions in a fast-paced environment. Community engagement and customer-focused service delivery. Holding a current Highway Safety Inspector qualification with an in-date certificate. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits. Previous experience within Local Government.
