Due to continued growth, we are recruiting a Senior Engineer with RC Frame experience to join us on our latest project in the city; a major, 46 storey project. Role & Responsibilities: Manage & lead a team of Site Engineers. Oversee the selection and requisition of materials and plant. Carry out and record quality inspections. Use digital / web platforms ie. Fieldview, Viewpoint for projects, Topcon magnetic field / office. Drawing interrogation and RFI s (request for information). Provide support to the PM & wider construction teams. Carry out the role of a Temporary Works Coordinator, coordinating temporary works designs and issuing permits. Find solutions to any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise. Requirements: Civil Engineering or Construction related degree qualified would be ideal. Excellent communicator. Hold a valid CSCS card & SMSTS, 1st Aid is beneficial not compulsory. Ability to demonstrate having previously worked on sub & superstructures packages, in particular concrete / RC frame structures & basements. Structural & Temporary Works Engineer Location: Borehamwood Spearheading the JRL Group from the outset J Reddington Ltd have been an industry leading groundwork and concrete (RC) frame specialist for over two decades. Building on a proven track record to date, the company is now increasingly being called upon to deliver solutions on larger projects in London and the South East providing the core to the business. J Reddington is the Civil and Structural direct delivery construction arm of the JRL group. We have an in house team, capable of the design and build of: piling, deep basements, drainage, civils and structural RC frames. We work both in the external market for key clients and for Midgard on internal self-delivered projects. Due to continued growth, we are recruiting a Structural & Temporary Works Engineer. Role & Responsibilities: • Assist in the development of permanent works civil and structural design from RIBA stage 3/4, through to construction and handover • Support the site delivery teams with assessment of structures in the temporary condition, including temporary works design. • Complete CDP elements such as precast conversion, reinforcement detailing, waterproofing and PT design (existing experience desirable but not essential) • Complete structural analysis to support conversion design, from traditional RC to PT/precast concrete • Complete major and minor temporary works items, to support the construction phase including but not limited to: basement propping schemes, back propping, construction loading assessments, capping beam design, tower crane base design, piling mat design, core stability checks for slip form, for example. • Ensure timely and accurate completion of drawings to comply with project requirements • Efficient use of AutoCAD/Revit to produce high quality drawings • Communicate with team members (projects, design) and external designers • Liaise with 3rd parties (e.g. clients, external designer, subcontractors, NR, NHBC) to ensure timely approval of design items • Periodic site inspections to assist site team and ensure correct installation of temporary and permanent structures • Assist in future product development • Assist in Document controlling • Assist in Project temporary works planning Requirements: • A highly motivated individual looking for a challenging career within the construction industry • Good skills in AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft office • Experience using Autodesk Robot of other FEM software pack • Experience in both structural and temporary works design desirable, but not essential if competent in one area. Role & Responsibilities: • Manage and coordinate the Design Team (both internal and external), the design development and design review process to enable the delivery of the civils and structural works, in accordance with the agreed DRM and IRS. • Work closely with the site delivery team to ensure the information provided is fit for purpose and suits our proposed construction methods. • Review the design information as it is developed, highlighting design issues and rectifying these with the design team, ahead of construction. This will require a good base knowledge of: Reinforced concrete design, steel to concrete connections, reinforcement detailing, façade interfaces, temporary works, piling and civils works and drainage. PT and Slipform knowledge preferable. • Manage and monitor design delivery against agreed deliverable dates, and report to SDM on performance issues • Be responsible for developing the design programme with consultants and planner for bids or projects. • Produce agree and manage, with all relevant parties, a realistic design programme and information required schedule to satisfy design, procurement and construction requirements. • Manage the design on site with where appropriate the assistance of other site based resource implementing the design management procedures to ensure the timely production of information. • Ensure that all design deliverables are reviewed to establish they are within budget, are fully coordinated and are buildable • Where nominated control design change process management. • Provide guidance to the project team on design related issues. • Identify design requirements for the bid from the clients brief • Develop and compile the design proposals for inclusion within the contractors documentation • Appoint the design team, agree schedules of responsibilities and fee agreements for services/design deliverables and resourcing requirements • Be based in Borehamwood, but able to visit projects on an ad hoc basis. Requirements: • Must have RC Framework & Groundworks experience within the residential & commercial sectors. • Construction Degree Qualified. • UK Experience. • SMSTS, 1st Aid & valid CSCS card.
