Outside IR35 Role Overview: The GIS Technician/Analyst will be responsible for importing/exporting, creating, maintaining, and updating geographic data for this engineering and construction project. The role involves some spatial analysis and production of GIS output for reports, maps and graphics to support informed decision-making. It blends GIS expertise with data management and supporting interface coordination across multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities include: Data Management & Maintenance: Competently collate, process and manage data, including maintaining and updating GIS datasets. Ensure spatial and attribute accuracy and consistency. Import and export data from various sources including imagery, CAD (DGN/DWG), Excel, and database formats. Import and integrate survey data to the GIS. Develop and maintain crossing schedules, route/location maps, and land profiles. Identify spatial design clashes. Link spatial data to construction progress and schedules. Technical Production & Analysis: Produce reports, maps, and 2D/3D graphics to support project planning and decision-making. Manipulate and analyse geographic and spatial data to create visualisations (maps, graphs, charts). Interpret data, maps, and aerial imagery; identify and resolve discrepancies to maintain data quality. Automation: Use of FME or Model Builder to automate data processing workflows. Use of GIS tools for data transfer between systems. Collaboration & Support: Provide GIS support to different teams. Communicate proactively with engineers to field queries and solve data issues. Manage clash record keeping. Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills: Proficient with GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS Pro, SQL SDE). Experience working with different projection systems and spatial data in engineering or construction fields. Familiarity with design, survey and drone data, and spatial analysis techniques. Familiarity with FME or Model Builder for data automation is desirable Education: Typically requires a degree in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Environmental Science, GIS, a related field, or equivalent experience.
