PBS are looking for a dynamic individual who wishes to develop as a Principal Designer under the Building Safety Act across multiple developments including non- high risk buildings and high risk buildings. The role requires a clear communicator in both verbal and written, someone who is passionate about technical delivery, enjoys the challenges of multitasking across various stages of projects and enjoys team interaction across the industry. You can work from the office if you like or you can base yourself at home. Total flexibility is offered. You will have a good knowledge of the building safety act 2022 and ideally have a technical background (Architect, Architectural Technologist, Construction management). Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and do not require current or future visa sponsorship Duties: Attend Design Team/ Workshop meetings as per allowance within scope Prepare and produce BSA progress reports at the end of each RIBA Stage/Gateway submission Liaison with other duty holders about design work compliance Ensure reasonable steps are taken to design work which is planned, managed and monitored to ensure compliance with all relevant requirements. Liaising with client on their duties under the BSA Ensure co-operation is occurring between all other duty holders Coordinate the route to compliance with the consultant team and establish a consensus for compliance Support the project team with notifying the regulator of any duty holder appointments Participating in the Design Development Ensure there is a mandatory reporting plan in place throughout the design phase and available when construction work begins Supporting the team through change management throughout the design phase and monitoring risks to design work compliance Ensure the Fire and Emergency File is in place during the design phase handing over to the PC during the construction phase Monitor the design development and identify risks to compliance Monitor competency of design team The ideal Candidate would have: A good understanding of Building Control . Architect, Architectural Technologist, Construction management background Has chartership/working towards accreditation within the industry A level of experience of High Risk Buildings Aware and understands the PD duties and responsibilities Keen eye for technical challenges across all parts of the construction industry Understanding of modern methods of construction Comfortable with Building regs, BSA legislation, BS documents, statutory processes etc Passionate about technical delivery (not just design), Enjoys processed driven role Enjoys working across multiply jobs at various stages. Fire Safety Design Engineer Remote Working - Working Natioanly with a Variety of Clients - Full Time / Part-Time Role We are looking for a Fire Engineer to provide Design and Project Coordination support to a specialist design team. Providing design and coordination support and fire engineering risk advice to clients and our internal PD/BR and PD/CDM professionals. We're looking for a Fire Engineer who is ready to thrive in a fire safety management and set the bar high in terms of standards and quality of work. You'll provide fire engineering design and fire risk advice on building and engineering projects whilst also providing contractor support with site checking and compliance. The ideal candidate will be confident producing reports, advising clients and supporting compliance with UK fire safety regulations and legislation, including the Building Safety Act. This role suits Fire Engineers with a mixed project background and the ability to peer review and produce designs and fire strategy reports to prevent fire spread and risk across all RIBA work stages. You'll have knowledge of CFD and CEM modelling, a fire engineering degree or similar level qualification and be working towards (or are prepared to) achieve Chartered Engineer through the IFE. You ll also be involved in site visits, surveys and post construction reporting. Collaborating on projects as a team player, to contribute to project success. Key Experience & Responsibilities: It is desirable for candidates to have experience in some or all of the following: Preparing client fee proposals and quotations Producing Fire Strategy reports Providing detailed technical advice on fire safety for a range of building types, with a particular focus on high-rise residential developments. Participating in client and design team meetings Supporting compliance with Building Regulations (e.g. Approved Document B) and fire safety legislation Advising on duties under the Building Safety Act Understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order Reviewing technical documentation (plans, sections, elevations, design details, etc.) Knowledge of British Standards such as BS 9991 and BS 9999 Exposure to or understanding of CFD modelling Prior experience in a fire consultancy or multidisciplinary environment
