Interim General Practice Surveyor (3-6 Months) Public Sector Organisation - Huddersfield Rate: £300 - £400 Per Day (inside IR35) Location: Huddersfield (hybrid working available) Contract Length: 3-6 months Start: ASAP The Opportunity A respected public sector organisation in Huddersfield is seeking an Interim General Practice Surveyor to support its Property & Estates team during a period of increased workload. This is a key interim role with a strong focus on landlord and tenant matters , lease and licence management , and day-to-day property management across a varied operational and investment portfolio. This assignment offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor to make an immediate impact, improve processes, and help maintain statutory and commercial compliance across the estate. Key Responsibilities Manage a diverse property portfolio, providing professional estate management advice. Lead on landlord and tenant work including rent reviews, lease renewals, re-gears, assignments, and dilapidations. Prepare, negotiate, and complete leases, licences, wayleaves, easements, and other property agreements . Undertake property inspections, ensuring assets are managed effectively and safely. Provide valuation, acquisition, and disposal advice as required. Liaise with internal stakeholders, external partners, and professional advisers. Maintain accurate property records and ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and organisational requirements. Candidate Profile MRICS qualified or with equivalent professional experience. Strong background in general practice or estate management , ideally within the public sector or a similarly regulated environment. Proven experience in landlord & tenant negotiations and managing leases and licences. Confident working autonomously and delivering outcomes at pace. This is a pivotal leadership role in a science-critical environment, ensuring the estate remains safe, compliant, resilient and ready to support world-class research. You will provide clear direction to in-house maintenance and minor works teams, while setting and leading the resourcing strategy across employed capability and the procured supply chain. You'll drive performance across both models, ensuring innovative, value-engineered and cost-effective services, with health and safety, compliance and environmental sustainability embedded in everything you do. Working as a senior member of the Estates Leadership Team, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Estates North to align maintenance strategy and performance nationally, enabling a consistent STFC-wide approach. A key part of the role is preparing and presenting performance reporting and business cases at executive level, providing assurance on delivery and highlighting emerging risks and opportunities.
