Job Title: OR(phone number removed) - Assistant Head of Building Control & Enforcement Manager Contract Duration: 3 Months Hours Per Week: 36 The Role We are seeking an experienced Assistant Head of Building Control & Enforcement Manager to lead and develop our enforcement and regulatory functions within Building Control. This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring compliance with complex building safety legislation, managing a growing team, and driving operational excellence across enforcement, dangerous structures, and regulatory processes. You will play a pivotal role in protecting public safety, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting the Council's strategic objectives in relation to building safety and performance. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the Building Control enforcement function in line with the Building Safety Act 2022 and related legislation Take responsibility for compliance with: Building Act 1984 Building Regulations 2010 London Building Acts (Amendment) Act 1939 Maintain accurate records and reporting to the Building Safety Regulator Provide technical leadership across: Plans assessment Inspections Enforcement strategy About You You will be a highly experienced Building Control professional with strong leadership capability and deep technical expertise. Essential Experience Significant experience across the full Building Control lifecycle, including enforcement Strong working knowledge of building safety legislation and regulatory frameworks Experience managing enforcement cases, including legal proceedings Experience working on complex and high-risk buildings Proven ability to lead and develop teams Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and decision-making ability Excellent technical judgement and risk assessment skills Ability to interpret plans, carry out inspections, and produce detailed reports Commercial awareness and financial management capability Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Qualifications Registered Building Inspector's Class 3 (Specialist) (minimum requirement) Eligibility for Class 4 (Technical Manager) desirable Equivalent qualifications (e.g. CABE) considered
