Principal Lighting Designer The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Lighting Designer to join a growing, multidisciplinary building services consultancy with offices across Oxford, London, Manchester, Birmingham and Cambridge. You'll play a key role in leading lighting design projects from concept through to completion, managing client relationships, mentoring team members and helping to grow the lighting discipline. The successful candidate will have experience leading teams, managing resources effectively and delivering multiple projects to programme and budget. You'll also be confident representing the business in meetings with clients, architects, engineers and contractors across the UK, with occasional overseas travel where required. Experience across multiple sectors is essential, with heritage and conservation projects being particularly advantageous. Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Contract) Location: Chichester, West Sussex Contract Type: Contract / Freelance Duration: Initial contract period with potential extension Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience About the Role We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of complex engineering projects across industrial, commercial, and infrastructure sectors. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for leading electrical design activities from concept through detailed design, ensuring technical excellence, compliance with industry standards, and successful project delivery within agreed timescales. This is an excellent opportunity for a contract engineer with strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities Lead the development of electrical engineering designs and specifications. Produce and review electrical design calculations, reports, drawings, and technical documentation. Design LV power distribution systems, control systems, and associated electrical infrastructure. Prepare cable schedules, load calculations, equipment specifications, and design deliverables. Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and process engineering disciplines. Ensure designs comply with relevant UK regulations, standards, and client requirements. Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and technical meetings. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers where required. Ability to work independently and manage multiple project priorities. Desirable Qualifications & Experience Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
