Job Title: Building Services Manager Area: Thetford Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (Days) Permanent Salary: Excellent As a Building Services Manager you will join a team involved with projects at all stages. A true multidisciplinary contractor design team working on a variety of building and civil engineering projects, retail, commercial, industrial, offices, medical and research facilities, to award-winning residential developments. You will provide design and commissioning coordination support, design and peer reviews, building physics and embodied carbon advice on various building and engineering projects, whilst supporting the contractor with site checking, verification and validation. Responsibilities Assess tender drawings and specifications for compliance to Building Regulations, Statutory, Health, Environment and Safety Legislation and Requirements. Evaluate pre-contract quotes and technical submissions, reporting on shortfalls, omissions, risk and opportunities. Provide practical support to construction teams. Supervise, survey, co-ordinate and inspect subcontractor activities during construction phase. Appraise pre-tender building performance (e.g. BREEAM) assessments and advising construction team and responsibilities. Appraise subcontractor design information against design codes, standards, employer s requirements and buildability requirements. Assess record drawing and O&M information and manage changes. Check output design information. Review and evaluate energy performance assessments and certification. Provide input into Construction Group tender submissions and competitive bids. Attend client meetings, tender interviews, progress meetings and represent to R G Carter Group Provide technical inspections, monitoring and testing to help identify and rectify defects. A true multidisciplinary contractor design team working on a variety of building and civil engineering projects from £0.1m to £30m+. From education, retail, commercial, industrial, offices, medical and research facilities, to award-winning residential and passive housing developments. You will provide proactive advice and support to Group Construction Site Teams on general aspects of construction quality, quality planning, measurement and monitoring. Key Responsibilities Assist the site teams in the development of Project Quality Plans, monitoring and testing processes and procedures applicable to each project to ensure quality standards are met, and statutory requirements are achieved. Review works undertaken on site and provide reports identifying areas of: Non-conformance / compliance with quality standards, Employers Requirements, Statutory requirements Preventative actions required, and advise on what actions may be appropriate (for acceptance by the protect team). Provide Construction Materials Site Support such as: Materials inspection, testing and reporting Specification guidance Monitoring and support of complex or high-quality works Engage with Group Specialist Businesses to obtain support and assistance with technical and design matters as necessary. Key Skills & Knowledge Communication, technical knowledge (understanding through application), materials, quality standards, technical standards (e.g. Building Regulations), an eye for quality and detail. Membership of ICWCI or working toward, would be advantageous. Experience I am keen to speak with experienced site construction professionals, site managers, Clerk of Works, etc. who feel they could excel in a quality, compliance and problem-solving role. You will need at least 15 years relevant construction experience gained with a main contractor. This opportunity would suit those with a mixed project background, across multiple construction sectors. Equally important is your ability to collaborate and be a key team player, with the personality and approach to help make projects a success, and help us develop and mentor our team, and maintain excellent relationships with our clients.
