M&E Quantity Surveyor - Cambridge Capita currently require a M&E Quantity Surveyor to join the established Cambridge team, working directly with our associate director on several key projects, alongside some high profile clients. Performing a key role in the M&E cost management team, you will have responsibility for management of M&E biased projects mainly within the Data Centre and Banking sectors. The current project you will be working on will see you working directly with client's capital projects. Projects are mainly based around central Cambridge, but management of client's portfolio will require travel. What you will do: * To take responsibility for the full cost management of projects from inception to completion * To ensure contracts are administered correctly, reducing risks for both Capita and the client, including QM procedures * To regularly liaise and build relationships with colleagues ensuring consistency of service delivery * To regularly update senior management on the progress of projects and provide high quality information to assist the business in decision-making * To be comfortable taking a brief from clients, acting upon it and producing best practice solutions for the clients * To gain the confidence of the client and become the focal point for communication * Actively pursues and encourages others to recognize potential business leads. * Runs project independently * Performs all RICS QM competencies to high technical standard. Your experience will include: * Experience working within a professional consultancy environment * Evidence of leading projects in a client facing role * Demonstrable knowledge of the Construction sector with M&E expertise * Experience working on medium to large scale property projects within a range of sectors. What you will do: * To manage own workload and to ensure high quality of delivery and commercial viability * To prepare and assist in delivery of a variety of schemes to the required budget and programme and to pre-determined standards * Assist and prepare detailed design and construction information drawings and specifications for procurement of contractors on a variety of schemes * To assist architects with sound technical advice in the development of designs * Assist in providing professional technical services to clients, across a variety of sectors * Ensure through sound management of workload and programmes that financial outcomes are achieved or exceeded * Maintain close relationships with key existing clients and address concerns, to maintain high levels of satisfaction * Ensure compliance with all Quality, Building Regulations, Health & Safety and Environmental regulations and considerations Your experience will include: Essential: * Registration or Progressively working towards professional membership of CIAT * Minimum qualification of Diploma in Construction * CAD Proficient, Photoshop proficient and experience of other Adobe packages (Illustrator and In-Design). * Revit experience is essential, 3D graphic and visualisation skills would also be beneficial. * Must demonstrate a high standard of technical skills and construction knowledge * Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks on projects to deadline and / or budget * The ability to work under direction but to be able to use own initiative when required * Good relationship management with both colleagues and clients * Full driving licence * Be proficient in MS Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, Project etc.) * Maintain annual CPD record to develop / maintain knowledge of industry best practices Desirable: * Experience performing a similar role * Ability to communicate with people in a co-operative and persuasive manner * Excellent presentation skills * Commercially aware and financially astute * Experience of preparing specifications and contract documents * Must be fully IT literate and numerate * Ability to network and to successfully pursue new business opportunities * Experience of developing excellent Client relationships * Comfortable in client-facing situations, able to influence and convince * Experience working within an ISO 9001 certified environment What's in it for you? Construction Health & Safety Advisor (CDM Advisor) About the role We are currently seeking a Construction Health and Safety Professional who is competent to work independently, on projects throughout the south west of England. Working as part of a team to deliver the Principal Designer duty, you will provide, CDM advice to Clients and other designers to help them comply with CDM 2015. This role will afford you the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, from new build social housing blocks, high rise office fit-outs, to infrastructure and specialist projects in defence and justice. Projects will vary from fast turnaround fit-outs to major capital projects. Your experience will include: Essential * Educated to degree level * Construction industry experience * Design experience * Ability to work on multiple projects * An understanding of the design process and the principles of risk reduction. * A thorough knowledge of the CDM regulations and associated legislation * Appropriate experience of the design and construction processes. * NEBOSH Construction Certificate or similar technical or professional qualification, with 5 year's post qualification experience * Registered Member of Association of Project Safety (IMaPS), with CDM 2015 * Graduate or Technical membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) * A current record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CAD software Desirable * An additional health and safety qualification such as a Degree, Diploma, or NEBOSH Certificate would be an advantage. * Ability to use Sharepoint and other technology as required by the business The Individual * Excellent communication, management and team working skills are required * The ability to be flexible in balancing health and safety risks with cost and programme whilst maintaining legal compliance * Excellent oral and written communication skills What's in it for you?
