Established for over 100 years, the company has grown until now where they currently directly employ over 1000 staff nationally and had a turnover of almost c£1bn last year. They take great pride in quality family homes and have won a great number of industry awards. Based in their well-appointed office, they are looking for someone to take lead commercial responsibility over volume housing projects (circa 100+ units). Duties will include risk analysis, cost control, feasibility studies, valuations, preparing plans, preparing bills of quantities, preparing and submitting final accounts. You will also be required to travel at least once a week to your own project in either Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire or Hertfordshire. The right candidate will be a passionate commercial professional who is methodical, organised and highly motivated. You will be a good communicator, have a keen eye for detail and driven to succeed. While candidates qualified by experience will be considered, it would be highly advantageous to hold a formal qualification in Quantity Surveyor. Also, while a track record in a residential construction background is preferred, those from other sectors will also be considered. Our client, a National Residential Developer are seeking a Finishing Foreman to join their team on a project in NW London. They work on a national basis on large residential and mixed use developments, on a range of properties including houses and apartments You will be mainly involved with the finishing trades on a the finishing stages for this residential site, and this will keep you busy for 3 or 4 months. You will be a strong finishing manager/ internal site manager to join their project in North West London immediately. Your role will be to help push the units on to completion, so you will be dealing with a number of trades and snagging the units. A Managing Surveyor required to provide support to the Commercial Manager, assist with and actively manage part of the commercial team for Special Projects. You will ensure the team are minimising cost and maximising value through proactive analysis and facilitation of works packages and the building process to maximise the profitability of the business. Other duties will include: * Attend and actively participate in design, client and team meetings, ensuring that actions are cleared in accordance with agreed timescales. * Work closely with colleagues to enable new projects to be procured efficiently and promptly and provide feedback on out turn costs for completed schemes. * Ensure the commercial team are adhering to and engaging with Quality Management System. * Assist the region in all pre-contract activities including the participation of external tendered opportunities. Relevant Experience: * Have a good understanding and knowledge of the main forms contract together with subcontracts. * Previous experience of actively managing live projects is required, the number of which in this role shall be dependent on scale and the size of the team. * Promote and maintain external relationships and joint venture partners. * Have a knowledge and understanding of compliance with Health & Safety legislation, policies, safety plans, risk assessments and method statements. * Previous people management experience is required. * Self-motivation, drive and passion to succeed are as important as is actual experience in the role. Package: £55,000 to £65,000 + Full package The business that we are representing is a family run interior fit out main contractor, with a small team working on big projects. The Assistant Contract Surveyor role will involve: * Deliver subcontract procurement to a programme ensuring timely placed orders. Identify risks, gains, areas of design input or potential value engineering. Establish and monitor subcontract resources. Desired Skills and Experience: Candidates will ideally be either degree qualified or hold a similar relevant qualification, such as HNC; MCIOB. A strong commercial background is required, which has been predominantly gained from time spent working with a reputable contractor or residential developer.
