A well respected specialist basement, geotechnical and piling sub-contractor are seeking a quantity surveyor to join their St Albans head office. The company has a great reputation and delivers foundation, underpinning, piling works and basement construction projects typically focusing on the commercial and residential sector. Due to a number of major project wins they need to source a technically astute quantity surveyor ideally with over four years’ experience. The successful QS will act as the contractual and commercial guardian of a portfolio of projects supporting the PM but with support and direction from the Commercial Manager. It is imperative that the Quantity Surveyor is able to follow financial controls – and efficiently monitor the cost and value of work carried out. Key Responsibilities • Ensure that all reporting is accurate and completed to agreed timescales; Ensure the project and programme contract, cost, quality and time targets are met; • Ensure prompt and regular submission of main contract payment applications and ensure that subcontractor payments are dealt with fairly and in accordance with subcontract terms; • Ensure all subcontract issues are resolved, deferring to the commercial manager where appropriate; • Change Management from Early Warning to Quote Agreement; • Procurement of Subcontracts; • Management of Subcontract Packages; • Provide key information across the contract team. A leading national contractor is seeking a Design Manager to join the existing team based in Surrey and working on projects throughout the Thames Valley and Southern Home Counties. The bulk of projects will have an education bias as this will be working under framework agreements as the main stream contractor. Working on two education projects in Slough, Berkshire with a combined value of £18m. There will be a requirement for one of the successful individuals to assist in the development and completion of the in-house 'best practice' guidance handbook to provide clear consistent advice to both internal teams and external consultants alike. Areas which will need to be discussed will be approved details, standardisation of preferred building components and products, BIM, maximising design efficiencies etc. Following the completion of this exercise, which they envisage will take approximately 6 months, the successful candidate will then take up a Senior Design Manager position working on some of the most prestigious projects within the business. It is anticipated that the appointed candidate will possess proven contracting experience of at least 10 years and have held the above role or a similar position before. An understanding of CAD, a proven track record of the management of multiple projects or projects of a complex nature or high value is a must.
