Land Surveyor / GPS machine guidance engineer role responsibilities: • Report to the Senior surveyor in a team of 3 and receive instructions to • Carry out bi-weekly surveys of the site and assist with calculation of quantities moved using LSS / N4ce. Training given if required on either of these packages, but detailed knowledge of some form of survey software is essential. • Ensure GPS model information is always up to date on the earthworks plant – the works will be constructed mainly with the use of GPS guidance. • Maintenance / calibration of GPS machine guidance – a good working knowledge of GPS machine guidance is essential. • Conventional setting out of earthworks where GPS machine guidance is not suitable. • Setting up / checking / maintenance of MM GPS / laser / total station for trimming of formation / subbase. • Previous use of drones would be an advantage as we are considering the purchase of a drone for survey work. • Assist senior surveyor with updating earthworks quantities schedules • Use telematics information from earthworks plant to calculate quantities moved on non-survey weeks. • Ensure quality records are produced to a good standard and supplied to quality manager for collation. • Ensure the latest information is always in use on site – obtain from Quality Manager and disseminate to staff supervisors as required. IPads are likely to be used by site supervisors for record keeping, assist with the development of the systems and training supervisors in their use. • Identify NCR’s and report promptly to avoid disallowed costs • Ensure safety standards are upheld and report any issues with our works to management. Assist with inductions of personnel at busy times, and the distribution of safety material – RAMS, tool box talks etc. • Knowledge of earthworks and highways construction generally is desirable. • This post would suit either an experienced surveyor or a senior surveyor who prefers to remain in the field rather than the office. Construction manager role Would ideally suit a Sub Agent / Site Agent with previous experience of working for a main contractor / large subcontractor Experience in Earthworks / Highway construction would be highly desirable. Responsibilities: Managing self and 2 construction engineers to: • Ensure the works are being built correctly to specification. Advise / suggest construction methods, technical detail, alternatives, Value Engineering etc. • Input into the weekly programmes, disseminate the programmes to the team and work closely with the foremen to ensure activities are carried out as planned • Ensure the planned works can progress on time with regard to availability of permits, RAMS, setting out / model info • Chase TQ’s / RFI's to ensure answers are given promptly and are favourable to us where possible • Identify CE's / additional works and notify Commercial team. Construction Engineer role: Would suit a Section Engineer / Senior Engineer with previous experience of working for a main contractor / large subcontractor Responsibilities: • Assist the Construction Manager and receive instructions to: • Ensure the works are being built correctly to specification – detailed knowledge of the contract earthworks drawings and specification will be expected. • Use the weekly programme to ensure permits, risk assessments and method statements, specifications / details, setting out info / models are available to the earthworks teams on time and that the earthworks supervisors know what is required • Write and amend RAMS in a timely manner to ensure all areas of work are covered with a suitable document (assisted by health and safety adviser) • Work closely with the surveying team to ensure model information is available and loaded onto GPS machine guidance when needed. Assist with site surveys and setting out at busy times – it is not envisaged that this will be a large part of the role, but knowledge of the use of total stations, GPS rovers, GPS machine control, survey software / AutoCAD will need to be learned or maintained. • Use volume information to inform foremen on specific queries e.g. you have 20,000m3 left to place in this embankment. • Carry out work to identify areas for improvement in production – monitor loading times, haul routes etc. and compare weekly productions. • Raise TQ’s / RFI's in a timely manner and ensure they go to the correct person for getting answered quickly. • Identify Compensation Events / additional works as and when they are found, and notify Commercial team. Ensure a thorough understanding of the subcontract and what works we are required to carry out. • Ensure quality records are produced to a good standard and supplied to quality manager for collation. Check the compaction requirements regularly. • Ensure the latest information is always in use on site – obtain from Quality Manager and disseminate to staff supervisors. The Role: The Quantity Surveyor will provide commercial support to project teams, maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and the Company’s ‘Three Pillar’ objectives. They will liaise with customer representatives and other third parties on commercial issues including agreement of variations, claims and any additional payments. MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE: To ensure that Contract Lifts are performed in the correct manner by recording hazards and measurements vital for producing the Method Statement. To formally asses all Crane Supervisors and Slinger/Signallers within the company as part of ongoing verification of training. TASKS: • Ensure that all Contract Lifts are performed in the correct manner. • Formally assess all Crane Supervisors and Slingers, and the preparation of the relevant documentation. • Assist with the training of new AP’s, including computer training in CAD. • Conduct visits in a logical sequence to make best use of journey times and distances. • Prepare a thorough risk assessment for all contract lifts ad produce a written Safe Method of Working Statement, which should be passed to the customer only after an order has been received. • If unlikely to meet Crane Supervisor, ensure that the method statement is explained to the Hire Desk who will pass the information to the Crane Supervisor. • Create ongoing relationships which will prompt customers to seek clients’ involvement in the future. • Undertake the responsibilities of Crane Supervisor if required.
