Multi-skilled Site Operative
An opportunity has become available for a multi-skilled site operative to join the team at Hendon. As a multi-skilled operative you will be responsible for dealing directly with clients to enable waste to enter the site, you will also be responsible for the accurate documentation of the site users using the computerised Weighbridge recording system.
What will you be doing?
* Efficient, accurate and courteous operation of Weighbridge and associated weighing duties as laid down in general instructions and/or as directed by management.
* To identify potential hazards relating to all aspects of the operation, including customers, reporting any discrepancies to the Line Manager.
* To operate mobile plant as required safely contain and transfer material from the storage bays, including pushing up, and loading hoppers and lorries.
* To carry out daily routine maintenance checks to all plant utilised in carrying out duties as per manufacturers’ and company guidelines, reporting any defects immediately.
* To carry out waste inspection checks as per company policy or as directed, reporting any non-conforming wastes or dealing with same as required.
* To monitor all traffic movements around the weighbridge and site generally thereby ensuring all site/Company procedures/ regulations are adhered to, reporting contraventions of such procedures/regulations to the Supervisor.
* To deal with all non-conforming waste and waste deliveries, including those not carrying the required documentation, in accordance with legislative requirements /Company policy, redirecting such deliveries as appropriate.
About you
* Experience of waste operations desirable.
* Experience of certified weighbridge operation including good numeracy, keyboard skills and systems understanding.
* Able to deal effectively, efficiently and courteously with all site users.
· Ability to use initiative and work flexibly and efficiently without constant supervision.
* Must be prepared to work at any of the Company's sites.
* Loading shovel trained

MAIN DUTIES:
Stores:-
Creation of purchase orders and recording goods inwards / outwards using company bespoke software.
Ensure checks to verify stock levels for re-ordering are accurate and appropriate.
To take delivery of goods delivered into stores, with the use of forkliftswhere required.
Ensure that goods are checked off in an accurate and timely manner and check for damages and quantity.
Update computer system to enable accurate stock levels.
Put materials away in stores after deliveries in a order.
To get materials out ready for collection by ISO tradesman and for the issuing to jobs, using the IT equipment provided.

The successful candidates will be appointed on a fixed term contract for the next 18 months working as part of the alleyway refurbishment programme. You will be required to carry out fundamental refurbishment tasks such as channel laying, drainage replacements and the reconstruction and resurfacing of flags, cobbles and black top. In addition to this you will work as part of a team responsible for the installation of temporary communal bins and the fitting of underground bins across the city of Liverpool.
You will be required to carry of key refurbishments in line with service requirements. You must be a person who can remain focused to ensure optimum service quality is achieved across all designated alleyway and community sites across Liverpool. You must be committed to contributing to team goals and be positive about taking on tasks and have the ability to maintain a positive and proactive approach.
To fulfil the requirements of the role you must hold a full UK Driving licence and have the ability to operate vehicles up to 3.5 or 7.5 tonne. You must also have previous experience operating small plant equipment associated with highway repair work.
A knowledge of health and safety requirements is essential, as well as good communication skills. You must have previous experience carrying out highway maintenance repair work such as pot hole repairs, tarmacing, kerbing, pipe laying or traffic management.
At present the working hours for this role are 35 hours per week. Currently we are reviewing working patterns and there is a possibility that moving forward we may implement an annualised hour’s work pattern where you work longer in the summer period than the winter period, to an accumulative average of 35 hours per week. A review will take place in February 2021 with any move to annualised hours working patterns being implemented from February 2021 onwards.
