My client is a Regional Contractor working on a variety of Building Schemes across the North West.
They are looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on at the beginning of a new build/refurbishment commercial scheme with a contract value of circa £700 million.
Reporting to the Construction Director your role will be to provide a full range of cost control and financial reporting duties on all aspects of construction work undertaken.
Duties include : " Attend pre-design meetings to advise on all areas that have cost implication " Check all contract drawings to identify errors, omissions, anomalies, and areas where unnecessary costs may arise.
Prepare all tender documentation and letters, including carrying out preliminary checks on subcontractors.
" Prepare Site Budget - carry out analysis of quotations resulting from tender enquiry; assesses Site Staff levels and build programmes with the Construction Director to ascertain preliminary costs; collates all cost information and prepares budget for approval
" Arrange and adjudicate Pre-site start meeting and prepares stage payment schedule to assist in the financing of the works.
Placing Subcontractor Orders; Interviews and checks references on selected subcontractors; carry out pre-order meetings including all necessary Health and Safety requirements; finalises tender sum and agrees a stage payment schedule for payment purposes; prepare all contract documentation and places order.
Variation Orders and Development Changes; provides cost advice on major variations prior to issue; issue revised contract drawings to subcontractors; negotiate cost of variations including liaison between Buyers and Build Managers; provide a full range of pricing information for purchaser's extras.
Cost Reporting - Checks all costs posted to each contract; collate and reconcile all costs resulting from subcontract works, variation orders, site instructions, material order and preliminary / running costs;
provides monthly analysis of costs and identify possible areas of over expenditure at future dates." Subcontractor Payments -check, agree and obtain necessary authorisation for passing payments for all elements of subcontractor works; agrees final accounts with subcontractors.

Completing Bi-Monthly CVRS and cost reporting.
Liaising and producing tracking reports on Fees and Prelims
Attending site project meetings - Monthly - Onsite
Controlling the Commercial Function of the developments at PRMs

Role Summary:
A brand new Buyer opportunity has arisen within a FTSE 100 construction company, based in their East London offices. This role will be supporting the Senior Buyer with all material and plant purchases for multiple sites across the UK, negotiating best terms and prices possible. Role Summary:
A brand new Buyer opportunity has arisen within a FTSE 100 construction company, based in their East London offices. This role will be supporting the Senior Buyer with all material and plant purchases for multiple sites across the UK, negotiating best terms and prices possible. You will need to have good negotiation skills and be able to effectively build relationships with site staff at all levels, from the project managers to the engineering teams.
Ideally we are looking to speak with candidates who have experienced purchasing materials for high rise developments. Having a good knowledge of construction related materials and having existing relationships with the major builders merchants across the UK will be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Senior Buyer with all procurement related activities
Organise plant hire for projects
Build relationships with suppliers
Schedule material requirements using construction drawings
Negotiate terms and prices with suppliers
Raise purchase orders
Chase orders to ensure delivery dates are met
Attend regular supplier visits
Deal with any quality issues, pushing back to suppliers when needed

Assistant QS Required by National Contractor due to continued growth and an increase in workload.
Duties:
The successful candidate will support the QS / Senior QS with commercial administration and management of live projects or projects at pre-construction phase
• Assisting with the preparation and administration of monthly applications and valuations
• Procuring and valuing sub-contractors accounts in line with our contractual obligations and Commitments to Subcontractors
• Ensuring cost reports and the like are managed, completed on time and monitored
• Assisting and liaising with the buyers on materials procurement and buying opportunities
• Where appropriate, assist with estimates and negotiations for future projects or phase
• Assisting the development and training of trainee surveyors
The Candidate
Ideally candidates will have post-graduate Quantity Surveying Experience but there is also the possibility to attend college or further education (where offered or applicable)
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Good level of numeracy
• IT skills – MS Office, Excel, Word etc.
• Excellent organisational skills.
