The role
This is a role for a Junior/ Trainee Estimator who is enthusiastic about starting their career with a contractor that values their employees. In this role you will have the ability to progress into a lucrative role as a Senior Estimator.
You day-to-day tasks will include:
* Reviewing, analysing, and sending out tender packages to sub-contractors and suppliers
* Managing and reviewing sub-contractor costs ensuring quality of tender returns
* Conducting take offs and pricing different elements of a tender including completing schedule of works or tender return document
* Costing site labour and prelims
* Liaising with clients, architects, cost consultants, sub-contractors and suppliers should any information be required on the tender
* Organising workload to ensure all tender deadlines are met
* Working with the client on all changes in scope, questions, or clarifications regarding the work, during the tendering process.
* Balancing multiple proposals and estimations at once, ensuring each reaches the client by the deadline
* Conducting site inspection for tender understanding, analysis of conditions and assessment of risk and identification of activities that may or may not be shown in tender documents.
* Attending and participate in onsite meetings with clients, architects, cost consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers during the project to manage and maintain costs

Reporting to the Principal Estimator you will be responsible for undertaking, overseeing and assisting with the management of and production, submission and negotiation of estimates and tenders.
Key responsibilities:
Assist with approvals process to ensure that all bids have the necessary approvals in accordance with company procedures
Prepare detailed analytical tenders and estimates from first principles within defined timescales
Liaise with other members of the Estimating and Operational teams to deliver high quality estimates and tender submissions
Maintain and update records of tenders, including change control
Prepare a comprehensive briefing pack for the Operational Project Teams on all successful tenders
Participate in the detailed risk assessment process on all bids
Ensure all tenders are fully reviewed by the Senior Manager/Director with appropriate financial authority
Act as bid manager where required depending on the value and complexity of the tender

Have experience of producing multi-disciplined high value, high quality tender submissions up to £ 250m in value
Candidate ideally would be very experienced from a clean water infrastructure background and knowledgeable in waste water infrastructure.

Qualifications
Degree qualified in relevant engineering technical or commercial discipline is desirable but not essential as experience will be taken into account
