The techniques and disciplines provided include; piling (CFA, rotary, driven, bored etc), mini-piling, underpinning, foundations, basement construction, and the jacking, propping, support and movement of a wide variety of structures or buildings. This begins with full site surveys and preparation of working drawings and designs (to BS and Eurocode standards and in full compliance of Local Authority and NHBC requirements), through to total delivery and co-ordination of projects to fulfil their client’s programme requirements.
Due to continued and sustained growth in the UK the company is now looking to recruit an Estimator to assist in their further ambitious expansion plans. The role will be based in the company’s South Yorkshire head offices, and candidates should be able to demonstrate a commercial aptitude along with some previous estimating exposure within any of the aforementioned sectors. The Role

Our client, a growing Civil Engineering and Construction Contractor who operate within the Civil Engineering and Infrastructure sector, have an excellent opportunity available, for an experienced Earthworks Project Manager / Earthworks Consultant, to join their team on a permanent basis.
In this role, you will predominately work on a section of HS2 works, which includes the delivery of earthworks and drainage deliverables, to the ECI target cost production, as well as further development and delivery on the HS2 contract. You will be required to provide technical advice with regards to Earthworks, reviewing and suggesting improvements to related documentation, as well as providing overall strategic advice and interacting with the end client at HS2 Ltd.
Daily duties will include but are not limited to:
Review earthworks designs and specifications.
Review and advise on GI information, assess VE potential and delivery of performance spec together with the internal Geotechnical department.
Review drainage information, assess temporary works requirements and advise on consents required
Input into weekly internal and Client progress meetings for earthworks related items.
Revise criteria for re-use of existing material assumptions based on current information and explore any VE potential.
Understand the status of earthworks quants and volumes broken down into material types and areas based on current design.
Review imported material availability (both from Client and external sources) and disposal options. Investigate rates of supply, material testing and compliance etc.
Review earthworks designs and input into Constructability, including access and logistics.
Produce method statements, risk assessments and ITPs.
Agree earthworks strategy, input into programme development and compile mass haul.
Liaise with geomatics / plant team to understand the requirements of the DIGGER system and advise of both practical and commercial impacts.
Liaise with team to size and calculate plant required to achieve outputs and required performance specifications, liaise with bid team accordingly.
Input into the target cost development in terms of methodologies, outputs, and risks associated with the earthworks and drainage.
Liaise with Bid Team and estimators to ensure activity schedule and or Bill of Quantities meets the method and logic of the plant movements and mass hauls.

You will be required to provide technical advice with regards to Earthworks, reviewing and suggesting improvements to related documentation, as well as providing overall strategic advice and interacting with the end client at HS2 Ltd.
Daily duties will include but are not limited to:
Review earthworks designs and specifications.
Review and advise on GI information, assess VE potential and delivery of performance spec together with the internal Geotechnical department.
Review drainage information, assess temporary works requirements and advise on consents required
Input into weekly internal and Client progress meetings for earthworks related items.
Revise criteria for re-use of existing material assumptions based on current information and explore any VE potential.
Understand the status of earthworks quants and volumes broken down into material types and areas based on current design.
Review imported material availability (both from Client and external sources) and disposal options. Investigate rates of supply, material testing and compliance etc.
Review earthworks designs and input into Constructability, including access and logistics.
Produce method statements, risk assessments and ITPs.
Agree earthworks strategy, input into programme development and compile mass haul.
Liaise with geomatics / plant team to understand the requirements of the DIGGER system and advise of both practical and commercial impacts.
Liaise with team to size and calculate plant required to achieve outputs and required performance specifications, liaise with bid team accordingly.
Input into the target cost development in terms of methodologies, outputs, and risks associated with the earthworks and drainage.
Liaise with Bid Team and estimators to ensure activity schedule and or Bill of Quantities meets the method and logic of the plant movements and mass hauls.
Provide forecast plant information to the plant department.Candidates will ideally:
Have relevant qualifications such as: Degree, HNC, CSCS Card, SMSTS etc (Example qualifications, not all required).
Have a strong knowledge of Earthworks and Drainage, associated with major Infrastructure projects.
Be comfortable in managing Earthworks packages circa £15 Million in value, and above.
Have previous experience reviewing and providing Technical input with regards to Earthworks, Drainage and Ground Investigation works.

Taking ownership of the bid collation process from receipt of documents to upload of final responses and through post-tender periods
Providing strong focussed leadership, management, direction and support to bid teams
Understanding and aligning bid strategy with client drivers, customer needs and key stakeholder requirements
Allocation of all tender deliverables and internal deadlines
Agreeing specific roles and responsibilities for each team member
Organising and chairing tender launch, mid-tender and settlement meetings
Arranging "Organise for Win / Quality" workshops including liaison with Business Development for key bid intelligence
Attending client presentations, meetings, site visits, interviews and feedback sessions
Developing methodologies, risk controls, innovations, VE and alternatives. Working closely with internal technical support and supply chain / technical specialists

You will be an experienced Bid Manager with Civil Engineering experience
You will ideally have a design background
25 days holiday - increasing up to a maximum of 30 depending on length or service
The company will contribute 5.5% if you contribute 2%
