What's the role? As a Building Physics Engineer at RYBKA , you will analyse and optimise building performance during all design stages, supporting the mechanical and electrical services design through advanced energy modelling to create sustainable solutions.Collaboration will be key to ensuring that projects fully meet the client's requirements and that projects are delivered within budget and on programme. Working Conditions - 37.5 contractual hours per week , Monday - Friday between the hours of 9am-5.30pmon a hybrid working model typically consisting of 3 days office and 2 days home working. The role can be based from our Edinburgh or Glasgow RYBKA offices. Key Responsibilities: Assist building physics lead with tasks as required for project delivery, to include: Using IES Virtual Environment software for: o 3D model creation.o Suncast (Solar Shading), Daylight & Sunlight analysis.o Conceptual Energy Analysiso Operational in-use energy analysis (TM54):o Building Reg Energy Compliance - Part L & Section 6.o Thermal Comfort Analysis - TM52 & TM59.o Future Climate Analysis.o Airflow Ventilation Analysis.o Breathing Buildings modelling.o HVAC sizing through analysis.o LZCT feasibility studies Assist with the preparation of SAP Calculations as required. Work closely with clients and design teams to provide optimal building design solutions through iterative and parametric simulations. Help shape the development and integration of AI driven tools and data analytics to automate and enhance building simulation workflows. Work with the project team to develop a detailed brief of their mechanical and electrical building services requirements in relation to sustainability and energy efficiency measures. Produce documentation which demonstrate clear understanding of the client's needs. Conduct clear and detailed options appraisals and produce reports for the project team and Client, justifying the recommendations made to ensure client sign-off of brief. Working together with colleagues to manage Rybka's multidisciplinary offering, ensuring all internal aspects of the programme delivery are met. Develop effective working relationships with the wider design team (Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Structural and Civil Engineers, and others) to ensure the whole construction project delivers the client's needs. Ensure the successful completion of the physical construction of the project by monitoring and reviewing on-site activity to ensure progress and quality. Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge of guidance, regulations, and standards. Deliver projects on time within deadlines, with clearly defined resources Quality of work delivered What we're looking for: Graduate qualification in engineering and / or other relevant degree. An understanding of IES ApacheHVAC is essential Experience with or enthusiasm for Python automation and AI tools to enhance building simulation workflows and data processing efficiency is essential Experience of a range of construction projects. Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience of operating in an ISO9001 Quality Management System. Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Excel, Word and Outlook. Competence in report writing. Good presentation skills. Knowledge of building physics. Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and low carbon design. Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering systems. Knowledge of embodied and whole life carbon. Appreciation and experience of the Technical Standards and relevant British Standards.
