Job Title: Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Building Services Engineer Location : Greater London & South East Start Date : December 2025 Company Van Provided Holiday : 20 days per annum, rising by 1 day each year of service, up to 24 days. Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Building Services Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an M&E Engineer at Reader Air, you will be responsible for delivering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and electrical systems in commercial and industrial properties across Greater London & the South East. These services will include planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and small project works. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a growing company and contribute to a wide variety of technically challenging projects. Key Responsibilities: Perform planned and reactive maintenance according to SFG-20 standards on the following but not limited to: AHU S, FCU S, boilers, pressurisation units, expansion vessels, lighting including emergency lighting, plumbing ball valves, toilet systems, control valves, electrical ballast, batteries, small projects work, L8 water hygiene tasks. Work with clients to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and provide expert technical support. Produce detailed reports and service records for clients. Liaise with the contracts manager to schedule and manage service visits, ensuring minimal disruption to clients. Maintain a high level of technical knowledge and stay up-to-date with industry standards and regulations. Provide support for commissioning and installation of new systems as required. Required Skills/Qualifications: Proven experience as a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer in building services. Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, diagnostics, and fault finding. Relevant qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent). Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently, managing your time and workload effectively. Full UK driving license (company van will be provided). Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and internal teams. Engineers will be required to join the out of hours on call rota - 1 in 6. Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Previous experience in commercial or industrial M&E maintenance. Electrical or Mechanical / Plumbing qualifications. Experience with BMS (Building Management Systems). Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practices in building services. Strong client-facing skills with a focus on customer satisfaction. Experience Level: Mid-level to Senior. Candidates should have several years of relevant experience in M&E maintenance and be capable of working independently. Role- Plumber/Pipefitter- Permanent Role Location- East London/Essex Salary- £33,000- £34,000 OT rates payable after 42.5 hours & enhanced weekend rates. 28 days holiday, company pension Van & Fuel card. They also have a very well established mechanical arm to their business who support them across all their projects. They work across the commercial, new build residential and highend re-fit and strip out of domestic residences (Flats/apartments/private houses). A large proportion of their business (Mechanically) is around schools and academies. They have a number of maintenance contracts, so there will be work in plant rooms. You may from time to time need to work out of hours. The Person • Reliable and able to work without supervision • Confident customer facing • Able to help/assist • Full driving licence • Strong Presence on site • Most importantly a team player who will muck in with other team members when needed on site. • Be able to pass a DBS/CRB check The role The ideal candidate will be a multi skilled all rounder who is proficient in all aspects of –plumbing and pipefitting.
