JML are looking for a skilled ground worker that has Kerb laying experience Location: Saxumndon IP17 22-24ph CIS Long term work Job Purpose We are seeking an experienced Kerb Layer to join a busy civil engineering substation build project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation of kerbs and associated road construction works, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required specification. Key Responsibilities Install all types of kerbs, including straight, radius, transition, and dropped kerbs. Carry out road formation works in accordance with project drawings and specifications. Prepare formation levels and ensure correct line and level is maintained. Assist with setting out and grading activities as required. Work alongside groundworkers, machine operators, and site supervisors to ensure works are completed on programme. Carry out reinstatement and finishing works where required. Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards. Maintain a safe and tidy working area at all times. Follow site health and safety procedures and company policies. Essential Requirements Valid CSCS Card. Proven experience laying kerbs on civil engineering, highways, or infrastructure projects. Experience carrying out road formation works. Ability to work from drawings, levels, and site instructions. Good understanding of health and safety requirements on construction sites. Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Desirable Requirements Street Works Qualification. Dumper and/or Roller Ticket. Experience on highways or Section 278 projects. EUSR Safe Dig qualification. Skills & Attributes Strong attention to detail. Ability to work to line and level. Good communication skills. Strong work ethic and positive attitude. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Typical Duties Kerb installation. Road formation and sub-base preparation. Edging and paving works. 2, Foreman / Excavator Driver Halstead, Essex Section 278 Highway Works Temp - perm Start: 27th July 2026 The Project We are recruiting on behalf of a highways contractor for the Bournebridge Hill, Halstead Section 278 Highway Works scheme in Essex. Two competent gangs are required to deliver a high-quality highways scheme through to December 2026. Working Hours Monday to Friday 07 30 Occasional Saturday working 07 00 (full day pay) The Role You will lead a three-man gang on a live highways scheme, operating an excavator up to 8 tonnes whilst managing the day-to-day activities of your team on site. A full-time supervisor is in place to handle paperwork, you just need to build the job. Scope of works includes: Excavation using up to an 8-tonne excavator and breaker Carriageway construction including formation dig and Type 1 installation Road base installation (remaining asphalt by others) Installing kerbs, edgings and tactile paving Drainage installation including ditches and new surface water drainage runs Requirements Proven foreman experience on highways or civils schemes NPORS or CPCS excavator ticket (essential) CSCS card NRSWA Streetworks Operative ticket (at least one gang member per gang must hold this) Full 6-point PPE Available to start 27th July 2026 and commit to the full duration

The successful candidate will also help manage day-to-day site operations, monitor progress against programme milestones, and support the coordination of labour, plant, materials, and subcontract resources. You will review drawings, specifications, method statements, and risk assessments to ensure works are properly planned before execution.
