Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Building Services Estimator to join our established team based in Yateley, Hampshire. This is a fully office-based position, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for a wide range of mechanical building services projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in HVAC systems and a solid understanding of mechanical services within commercial, industrial, and residential environments.

Key Responsibilities

Tendering & Estimating

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical building services projects, with a strong focus on HVAC systems.

• Analyse tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to develop competitive bids.

• Produce material schedules, labour costings, and subcontractor enquiries.

• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure compliance with project requirements.

• Prepare tender summaries, cost breakdowns, and technical clarifications.

Technical Analysis & Design Review

• Review mechanical designs, specifications, and engineering details to identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.

• Provide technical input to ensure proposed solutions align with mechanical building services best practice and project requirements.

• Liaise with the internal design team where required to refine scope.

Client & Stakeholder Coordination

• Work closely with clients, consultants, and contractors during the tender process.

• Attend meetings (in-office or remotely) to clarify tender queries and present proposals.

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

Project Handover

• Support the handover process to project delivery teams, ensuring they receive clear documentation and a comprehensive understanding of the tendered solution.

• Assist with variations, re-costs, and updates as required during project mobilisation.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within building services.

• HVAC experience is essential, including knowledge of heating, ventilation, cooling, and associated mechanical systems.

• Strong understanding of mechanical services design, installation practices, and industry standards.

• Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and schematics.

• Excellent numerical, analytical, and commercial skills.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with internal and external stakeholders.

• IT proficiency, including estimating software and Microsoft Office.
