Job Description

Client: My client has established themselves as one of the UK s premier M&E contractors. Following their formation almost 75 years ago, they have grown their turnover to over £200m per annum. The business boasts an envious track record of delivering some of the UK s and London s landmark projects. Typically they specialise in major shell and core projects in sectors such as; commercial offices, healthcare, pharmaceutical and education. Despite their size, this Tier 1 M&E Contractor has fantastic staff retention rates with a reputation for looking after their staff. They offer excellent exposure and internal training schemes with a hands-on approach to developing their staff.

Role: Logistics Manager - Central London - £250-£300 per day

Reporting to a Project Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing site logistic activities; ensuring all deliveries are co-ordinated correctly and efficiently. Projects are typically fast track commercial office fit out or infrastructure upgrades. Key to this role is managing the project at site level; ensuring it is completed on time, to a high quality and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategically planning, directing, and optimising the full order cycle.
  • Liaising daily with Principal Contractors and Subcontractors to ensure all project updates and changes are accounted for and do not interrupt the schedule of works.
  • Supervision, coaching and training of labourers.
  • Liaising with suppliers and booking the delivery of goods as per project schedule ensuring costs and timeline targets are met.
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery.
  • Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements.
  • Managing offloading of vehicles to ensure integrity of goods and safety requirements during offloading.
  • Ensuring all environmental commitments within the supply chain are met.
  • Responsible for the management of all storage areas.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all connected with the logistics process.
  • Attend site logistics meetings, liaising and developing strategies for more efficient management of site and delivery of the project program.
  • Carrying out daily inspections/sign offs on plant and equipment and keeping records.
  • Attending meetings/daily briefings/tool box talks/ site walks as necessary
  • Keeping accurate records of all deliveries/inductions/plant/pat testing/equipment/H&S docs.
  • Must be competent using a computer including word/excel documents and various online programs/portals.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in mechanical and electrical packages
  • Computer Literate and accustomed to using MS and site management software
  • Numeracy and ability to understand numerical data
  • Display Be Safe attitude and behaviours
  • Ability to work as a team and on own initiative
  • Attitude for compliance and good attention to detail
  • Articulate, confident and assertive
  • Good standard of verbal reasoning skills
  • Robust and resilient, able to absorb pressure and respond positively
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and on own initiative
  • A comprehensive understanding of stock rotation
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads.
