As a/an Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will have the following accountabilities:
* Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with standard company HSE procedures and work instructions
* Contribute to the management and maintenance of a contract cost reporting system ensuring all financial information is managed and up-to-date and tracked with budget/tender allowances, commitments and deviations highlighted and managed
* With other members of the team, produce and provide accurate subcontract and procurement forecasts and project cost to completion.
* Continually monitor costs in line with budget.
* Ensure that necessary interface information between customers, suppliers, sub-contractors and other departments is provided in a timely manner.
* Monitor cash flow and valuation plan, ensuring applications are made correctly and in a timely manner.
* Ensure contract variations are identified, valued and turned into agreed variation orders with the customer in a timely manner.
* Assist in ensuring effective records are maintained to support change / claims and that applications for payment for variations are issued in a timely manner.
* Manage the subcontract tender process, including the selection of sub-contractors and provision of all relevant contract and schedule documentation.
* Ensure that subcontracts are placed in an appropriate manner to step down appropriate responsibilities from the Head Contract. Including design considerations where necessary.
* Provide accurate monthly reporting of cost and value on the project in line with the Companys reporting process.
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
* Membership of a relevant professional body and/or relevant professional qualification, such as InstCES/RICS
* Previous experience in Quantity Surveying, some of which should have been obtained within a relevant business of factory facility environment
* Sound working knowledge of construction and contract law and various forms of Conditions of Contract
* Detailed knowledge and understanding of tendering and procurement processes
* Knowledge and understanding of sub-contracting principles, together with the ability to draft and administer sub contracts
* Working knowledge of labour productivity assessments
* A valid CSCS card is beneficial but not essential

KEY PURPOSE
The Trainee Building Fabric Manager will assist Contract Managers to oversee and manage planned & reactive maintenance works within a designated geographical area for multiple clients. The post holder will be responsible for assisting senior staff to manage work in progress from quotation through to completion. You will help to ensure that all works are completed on time, in budget and to the required standard, as well as assisting with basic line management duties. The key purpose of the role will be to undertake on-the-job learning, shadowing Contract Managers to eventually become fully competent and independent within the role of contract management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assist in planning and communicating weekly labour schedules.
Assist in managing engineer holidays and sickness to ensure adequate cover at all times.
After a training period, prepare remedial quotations/estimates for clients within agreed contractual timescales. Provide clients with detailed quotations, photos and second price options for reactive maintenance issues.
Shadow Contract Managers on client briefings and assist in the preparation of Project work-books, RAMs and Site Specific Method Statements.
In conjunction with the Contracts Manager, monitor job costs against client's budgets.
Ensure all variations on quoted jobs are approved and uplifted by client surveyors/ Area Building Managers.
In conjunction with the Contracts Manager assist to compile, submit and negotiate agreement of final accounts.
Help resolve any client-related issues or disputes.
Carry out regular Quality Audits on reactive/maintenance jobs.

KEY PURPOSE
The Trainee Building Fabric Manager will assist Contract Managers to oversee and manage planned & reactive maintenance works within a designated geographical area for multiple clients. The post holder will be responsible for assisting senior staff to manage work in progress from quotation through to completion. You will help to ensure that all works are completed on time, in budget and to the required standard, as well as assisting with basic line management duties. The key purpose of the role will be to undertake on-the-job learning, shadowing Contract Managers to eventually become fully competent and independent within the role of contract management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assist in planning and communicating weekly labour schedules.
Assist in managing engineer holidays and sickness to ensure adequate cover at all times.
After a training period, prepare remedial quotations/estimates for clients within agreed contractual timescales. Provide clients with detailed quotations, photos and second price options for reactive maintenance issues.
Shadow Contract Managers on client briefings and assist in the preparation of Project work-books, RAMs and Site Specific Method Statements.
In conjunction with the Contracts Manager, monitor job costs against client's budgets.
Ensure all variations on quoted jobs are approved and uplifted by client surveyors/ Area Building Managers.
In conjunction with the Contracts Manager assist to compile, submit and negotiate agreement of final accounts.
Help resolve any client-related issues or disputes.

This role will be on a high volume, low value framework which will require you to actively overcome challenges. As the work is high volume there will be an expectation to complete assigned tasks competently, but at speed.
The work is largely civil engineering including grit lasting, bridges and platform refurbishments and some building works. The building element is likely to include things such as level crossing repairs as well as other minor works.
You will need to take instruction from the commercial team and their assistants and create accurate cost value reports for the senior commercial team and the end client.
