Job Description

Project Manager – Archaeological Projects

£36,000 to £46,000 per annum - dependent upon experience

The Company

MOLA is an experienced and innovative archaeology practice. We have been providing independent, professional heritage advice and services for over 40 years across the UK and internationally on schemes both large and small. Our commercial services are designed to help our development, infrastructure and construction sector clients to meet their planning process requirements swiftly and expertly, with the certainty and value they need.

The Vacancy

MOLA is seeking at least two experienced Project Managers to join our friendly and busy London team.

MOLA is enjoying a period of growth with exciting developments in our fieldwork techniques and research and engagement activities. MOLA is the only archaeological unit in the UK that is an Independent Research Organisation (IRO) allowing us to bring together the opportunities in development-led work and funded research. We aim to generate measurable social value through our projects and we encourage applications from people who can deliver the leadership and commercial elements of the role and who want to make a positive difference to society.

London Developer Services

The London Developer Services team is a core commercial function at MOLA with responsibility for delivering mainly field-based services to help clients meet their planning requirements and to be part of the team delivering public benefit. The Team includes project managers, planners, field staff, geoarchaeologists, geomaticians and built heritage specialists, but also works across wider MOLA teams including Research and Engagement, Communications, Operations and our other in-house specialists.

Right now, we are primarily looking for experienced Project Managers but will be interested to hear from people at Assistant Project Manager or Senior Project Manager level and if in any doubt about what level to apply for please contact : Sophie Jackson  and we will be really happy to have an informal conversation.

The Role(s)

Project Managers are responsible for leading on the successful planning, operation and completion of archaeological projects, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams and Senior Project Managers.

The ideal candidates will already be experienced in delivering archaeological projects at a management or consultancy level.  The role has a business development element, and there are team targets for bringing in new work and clients to MOLA.

A commercial outlook, really strong team leadership skills, problem solving and adaptability in approach will be essential to being a success in the role.

A full clean driving licence is needed as regular travel is required to sites across London and the southeast. MOLA supports selected staff to learn to drive through a fully funded scheme, so please don’t let not having a licence deter you, but we do need commitment to learn to drive within 6 months.

Closing date for applications is 23.59 on Sunday 5th September 2021.
