Job Description

Experienced Senior Site Manager, required to work with this busy main contractor, as No2 to the Project Manager on a £25m new build retirement development close to Southampton. The scheme comprises high specification retirement apartments, a central community hub, assisted living and extensive landscaping. This is a secured scheme due to start on site later this year for a 2 year programme of works. There are additional phases of work which could run for a further 3-4 years in the same location. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing all site based construction activities, including mid and short-term programming of works, input to design development, health and safety, review of method statements, risk assessments, call off of materials, logistics, quality control, client liaison, coordination meetings, reporting on progress against program, etc, issue resolution, snagging and handover. About the Company/Client/Project: This opportunity is with a busy main contractor group specialising in the construction of high spec retirement and care homes, student accommodation, town centre redevelopment, and private rental apartments. Schemes range from £25m-70m in value and are procured on frameworks, competitive tender and negotiated schemes for repeat clients. The patch focus includes Hampshire and Berkshire, plus Surrey and West Sussex. Requirements: The successful candidate will be highly motivated, proactive, demonstrating excellent technical, organisational, man-management, communication and communication skills. Proven track record of work for a top twenty main contractor advantageous. Ideally from a construction management or engineering background with a sharp eye for detail, you will possess strong planning and problem solving ability, with a positive, 'get it right first time' approach. This role would suit an experience SSM, or ambitious SM with previous experience on a larger project. You will possess your SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications for this role.
