Job Description

J Coffey Infrastructure are currently looking for a Site Manager to join our team on a project in Reading. Job Overview To plan, resource and manage a team(s) of Supervisors and operatives &/or subcontractors to successfully complete a civils groundworks project within a Ministry of Defence environment, ensuring defect free work is delivered in a safe & timely manner to meet the required standards and specifications. Responsibilities & Duties * Manage the delivery of onsite work activities in line with the programme, ITPs and Safe Systems of Work. * Ensuring the CDM Regulations are followed and the necessary health and safety plans, risk assessments and method statements are produced and brought to the attention of the relevant people. * Ensure the safe system of works (SSoW) is briefed to all staff and subcontractors and site records are accurately maintained in a timely manner – Ensure safe systems of work are understood prior to commencement. * Undertake Site Inductions. * Ensure adequate emergency arrangements are in place. * Ensure compliance with requirements of relevant standards, procedures and contractual requirements. * Control and monitor activities of site personnel /subcontractors. * Ensure hours worked are monitored and risk assessments undertaken where necessary. * Undertake site safety monitoring and inspection and actions arising are implemented in appropriate timescales. * Monitor costs associated with Labour, Plant and Material and report weekly. * Effective client communication for contract changes and technical issues – maintain agreed project controls. * Shall continually develop safe practices to ensure maximum safety for all. * Must familiarise themselves with the Company Health & Safety Policy and Environmental Policy and ensure that all staff and sub-contractors under their control fully understand and observe all aspects of the Company’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Policies and Procedures. * Ensure that there is an adequate safe access to reach the work place and that the actual workplace is safe and free from hazards. Eg working at height, prevention from falls, housekeeping and exclusion zones. Qualifications A minimum of 6 years’ experience at a supervisory level (HND/ NVQ Level 4 in construction). Essential: * CSCS “Supervisor” card. * Site Manager’s Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS – 5 day CITB Course). * Diploma or BSc in Construction Management. Preferable: * Crane Supervisor (CPCS) * First-Aider * Manager’s Environmental Awareness Training * Temporary Works Supervisor * Confined Spaces * Cat and Genny Training * SSSTS * Fire Marshal Training * BPSS Security Clearance J Coffey Ltd are an equal opportunities employer and strongly encourages applications from suitably qualified candidates.
