Job Description
Our client, a privately owned developer based in Hertfordshire are looking to appoint an Assistant Buyer to support thier existing team.
You will be assistant the company Buyer with the following duties:
Material take offs and schedules from working drawings & specifications.
Preparation of material enquiries to obtain competitive tenders
Analysing tenders & quotations in respect of their technical compliance & commercial viability.
Negotiating with suppliers & other service providers to obtain best value
Placing purchase orders for materials, plant and other services as required
Assist with the administration of the supply chain management process
Assist the Pre-Construction department with material prices for tenders & cost plans
Liaise with the site managers to facilitate the timely procurement of materials & other services
Dealing with invoice against order queries
General supply chain & material procurement administration tasks
Any other reasonable management requestDesirable skills:
Reasonable negotiating skills
Understanding of construction processes
Financial and commercial awareness
Working with different computer systems & software
Effectively manage time in order to meet deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skillsSuitable candidates will ideally have an industry related qualification and must have experience working as an Assistant / Trainee Buyer for either a housing developer or main contractor.
