About the role: You will be responsible for a team of Structural Engineers and Technicians working on a broad range of structural engineering projects across the county of Powys. The structures team forms a key part of Powys County Council's Engineering Design Services team which employs around 50 enthusiastic and dedicated staff, comprising academically and professionally qualified engineers, technicians, and ecologists. You will act as the structures lead, managing and motivating staff and providing your expertise upon a range of building and highways civil engineering projects, and delivering a portfolio of schemes to programme and budget. You and your team will be committed to ensuring the delivery of sustainable projects which focus upon and enhance the counties biodiversity and natural heritage. About you: You will: be a chartered civil or structural engineer. have significant experience of structural building and highway structures engineering design. have a good working knowledge of the relevant; DMRB standards, codes of practice, NEC contracts, as well as H&S and environmental legislation . have good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels. have an ability to manage conflicting priorities and be self-motivated. be a team player and have a desire to develop and mentor your team. You will provide designs and technical advice upon structural matters relating to leisure centres, schools, swimming pools, and other corporate building assets. You will also take responsibility for structural assessments, design calculations, contract drawings and documentation for allocated highway asset projects including bridges and retaining walls. You will have a working knowledge of the NEC4 contact and have a good understanding of construction best practice and site management. You will act in the role of CDM Principal Designer and be committed to Health & Safety matters upon your projects both at design and construction phases.
