Buyer (Construction)

Role Summary: A brand new Buyer opportunity has arisen within a FTSE 100 construction company, based in their East London offices. This role will be supporting the Senior Buyer with all material and plant purchases for multiple sites across the UK, negotiating best terms and prices possible. You will need to have good negotiation skills and be able to effectively build relationships with site staff at all levels, from the project managers to the engineering teams. Ideally we are looking to speak with candidates who have experienced purchasing materials for high rise developments. Having a good knowledge of construction related materials and having existing relationships with the major builders merchants across the UK will be beneficial. Key Responsibilities: Support Senior Buyer with all procurement related activities Organise plant hire for projects Build relationships with suppliers Schedule material requirements using construction drawings Negotiate terms and prices with suppliers Raise purchase orders Chase orders to ensure delivery dates are met Attend regular supplier visits Deal with any quality issues, pushing back to suppliers when needed Monitor subcontractor performance, feeding this information back to underperforming suppliers Build relationships with project teams, from the site staff to project managers Attend site visits Deal with any invoice queries Experience Required: Experience with high rise developments Experience purchasing within a construction company Knowledge of construction materials Confident negotiator Knowledge of building regulations / H&S requirements Experience using COINS (Desirable not Essential) This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading UK Construction Company, who have major growth plans over the next few years.
