Set and manage budgets ensuring all costs are correctly allocated into the relevant WBS
Establishment of robust project life cycle cost forecasts updated monthly and monitored against agreed targets
Proactively drive the recording of all contractual entitlements, ensure timely notification of events and accurate pricing and substantiation of change
Establish and maintain rigorous cost controls including early warning systems and provide robust accurate financial data and management reports on each project through the monthly reporting cycle including EVM.
Provide procurement support to ensure each project is delivered safely, timely, at the least cost and to optimal quality.
Ensure all procurement expenditure has been validated by the operational delivery team and identified under the budget as necessary to deliver the project
Deliver contractually agreed cash flow and ensure all AFP’s are submitted / assessed in line with the contractual timescales.
Ensure all valid Supply Chain payments are made in line with the relevant supplier agreement.
Negotiate and agree contractual disputes and final accounts within DFA levels

Our client is one of the leading independent geotechnical and ground engineering specialists in the UK that enables them to deliver projects nationwide and deliver high quality geotechnical, geo-environmental and ground engineering investigations and services. They operate within a variety of sectors that include high-rise buildings, brownfield and waterside developments, bridges, railways, highways, pipelines, offshore energy and multi-utilities. Projects vary in size and complexity, from small ground investigations to multi-million pound developments for clients including developers, house builders, architects, consultant engineers, central government, local authorities, main contractors and utilities operators.
Overview
The business has a strategy to grow significantly over the next three to five years, coupled with the recent award of several long term major HS2 contracts, resulting in a number of exciting opportunities for a number of Senior Quantity Surveyors Engineers to play a key role in realising this strategy. The successful candidates will assist and lead all commercial and contractual matters, and effectively support the Commercial Director and Management team to ensure successful and profitable delivery of a wide range of technically complex and challenging projects.
The Role
* Overseeing commercial activities and financial governance, working closely with the operations and pre-contract teams
* Risk assessment, identification and management
* Cash flow management, and cost and budget compliance
* Continual review and challenge of existing processes to identify and implement best practice
* Negotiate and approve contracts and sub-contracts, ensuring contracts have been compiled and implemented prior to commencement of works, and review third party contracts
* To assist in the commercial elements of oversee tendering activities including enquiries, bid evaluations, proposals of bidder selection and risk avoidance
* Negotiation and settlement of claims and disputes
* Identifying and managing risk and opportunities associated with contracts
* Provide commercial and contractual advice to both the operations and pre-contract teams
* Notification, preparation and agreement of insurance claims
* Attend project review, progress and close out meetings

The Person
* A Quantity Surveying Degree is desirable, however and HNC or HND combined with commensurate experience will be considered
* A sound working knowledge of construction and contract law, and various forms and conditions of contract
* A detailed knowledge and understanding of tendering and procurement processes
* A thorough knowledge of a wide range of civil engineering or specialist construction techniques
* The ability to apply the knowledge and principles of commercial management to a variety of turnkey construction projects
* Working knowledge of basic plant, equipment and materials

Our client is one of the leading independent geotechnical and ground engineering specialists in the UK that enables them to deliver projects nationwide and deliver high quality geotechnical, geo-environmental and ground engineering investigations and services. They operate within a variety of sectors that include high-rise buildings, brownfield and waterside developments, bridges, railways, highways, pipelines, offshore energy and multi-utilities. Projects vary in size and complexity, from small ground investigations to multi-million pound developments for clients including developers, house builders, architects, consultant engineers, central government, local authorities, main contractors and utilities operators.
Overview
The business has a strategy to grow significantly over the next three to five years, coupled with the recent award of several long term major HS2 contracts, resulting in a number of exciting opportunities for a number of Senior Quantity Surveyors Engineers to play a key role in realising this strategy. The successful candidates will assist and lead all commercial and contractual matters, and effectively support the Commercial Director and Management team to ensure successful and profitable delivery of a wide range of technically complex and challenging projects.
The Role
* Overseeing commercial activities and financial governance, working closely with the operations and pre-contract teams
* Risk assessment, identification and management
* Cash flow management, and cost and budget compliance
* Continual review and challenge of existing processes to identify and implement best practice
* Negotiate and approve contracts and sub-contracts, ensuring contracts have been compiled and implemented prior to commencement of works, and review third party contracts
* To assist in the commercial elements of oversee tendering activities including enquiries, bid evaluations, proposals of bidder selection and risk avoidance
* Negotiation and settlement of claims and disputes
* Identifying and managing risk and opportunities associated with contracts
* Provide commercial and contractual advice to both the operations and pre-contract teams
* Notification, preparation and agreement of insurance claims
* Attend project review, progress and close out meetings
* Oversee WIP levels and cashflow to ensure efficient process of cash collection
* Oversee the timely submission of final accounts to clients
* Maintain a register of contractual claims and disputes for and against the company
* Undertake annual audits for each main contract to ensure good practice and compliance with procedures
* Prepare monthly financial reports identifying any trends or areas for improvement
