Design Coordinator - Leading tier one contractor - Central London Fawkes & Reece are currently seeking an experienced Design Co-ordinator to work for one of our clients, a leading tier one main contractor in the Central London area. Reporting to the Regional Design Manager, the successful candidate will lead the design process to meet the agreed whole life programme deadlines. The project they are looking to bring someone in on is a Luxury, £50m structural refurbishment to a retail store in Central London Design Coordinator - Leading tier one contractor - Central London Key responsibilities include: * Lead the design process to produce accurate information in line with the agreed specification and cost plan / estimate. * Manage the appointment of consultants and ensure that they perform in line with their deed and agreed scope of services. * Develop a design programme with the consultants to meet the agreed whole life programme dates. * Provide cost effective technical solutions. * Chair design team meetings and issue actions to all involved within 2 working days. * Produce designs that meet all necessary statutory and regulatory approvals and record on appropriate tracking logs. * To conduct their role in a way that is consistent with the company's sustainability objectives. * Maximise all value engineering opportunities. * Engage with the project team and CDM Coordinator to mitigate all health and safety risks. * Close out identified project risks. * Constantly reinforce and deliver our customer first ethic. Essential and desirable criteria Technical or Operational * Contracting experience of at least 2 years. * Various forms of construction technology. * Using Microsoft suite of Office programmes; inc. Excel, Word, Outlook and Project. * An understanding of CAD. Resources * Controlling costs, timing and quality in line with targets. * Project delivery. Information * Reading and accurately interpreting drawings and technical specifications. * Ensuring project team(s) understanding of drawings and technical specifications. * Ability to use and navigate design package software.
