Your job role will be within McLennan Architects (our in-house Architectural team) and you will be engaged during the detailed design stage and site delivery phase of the Company’s overall scope of design service working closely with the Architectural Director and the other design team staff.
You will design and deliver new and renovated spaces within a variety of sectors including retail banking, commercial, residential, industrial and Higher Education. You will be expected to provide design and detailing support in all project phases from initial concept design, through the detailed development stage and assist the delivery teams during the site delivery phase.
Key areas of responsibility
* Supporting the Architectural Director in delivering all RIBA stages and on-site works from inception to completion.
* Providing detailed design expertise into projects from bidding, procurement as well as manufacturing and on-site stages.
* Design detailing for new build and interior spaces, including permanent architectural details and temporary elements.
* Assess and meet client requirements and desires through regular meetings and communications.
* Produces sketches, detail drawings, and general arrangement floor plans throughout the RIBA work stages using computer-aided design programs (CAD).
* Draft and produce full written design specifications / NBS.
* Adhere to national and local building and safety codes with every design element.
* Works closely with various colleagues, including architects, engineers, contractors, acousticians, and building inspectors.
* Research specifications, materials and finishes to support design team on technical issues influencing detailed design development.
* Work within project time schedules to coordinate the completion of staged task through to final project completion
* Conduct on-site visits (initially shadowing the Architectural Director) and site observations and provide recommendations to ensure alignment with design specifications.
* Design and/or select furniture, materials, décor and finishes within project budgetary constraints.
* Commercial awareness of project budgets to support overall profitability of the business unit
* Providing advice and guidance to the department relating to any technical design and specification issues.
* Liaise with clients (both internal and external) regarding technical design and specification to ensure their requirements are fully understood and met.
* Provide tailor-made services to assist clients in developing and managing their projects
* Offer Clients added value to provide quality, start-to-finish delivery
* To develop project proposals and solutions to clients during detail design stages, tender stage, query meetings, and progress meetings.
* Manage all departmental documentation and ensure that it is up to date.
* To carry out other duties as required ensuring the business achieves its aims and objectives.

Skills and behaviours required
3+ years practical project and site experience required in a UK based Architectural practice.
AutoCAD expertise required and working knowledge of Sketch-Up Pro/BIM/Revit desirable. BIM training will be provided.
Strong knowledge of English Planning Legislation and Building Standards. Working knowledge of Scottish Building Standards also preferable.
Degree level qualifications in Architectural Technology and ability to demonstrate the required experience and knowledge of working within the construction industry with 3+ years design experience since qualification.
Standard hours of work: 8am-5pm Monday to Thursday, 8am-4pm on Friday’s (1 hour lunch each day)
Candidates may split their working week between office and working from home. A fully remote option is also available to suit candidate preference. Travel may be required on occasion to meet role and business requirements.

We are currently recruiting for a Framework Manager to work within our Fitout England division based out of Leeds or Warrington. The role will support the development of various Production & Manufacturing frameworks across the North of England, working with key clients.
The role will support the Production & Manufacturing Sector lead for the business in the management of all day-to-day operational issues relating to the various production & manufacturing framework. In addition, this post takes on a key account management role, with overall responsibility for the management of client delivery programmes – from inception through to completion – ensuring the client’s needs and expectations are not only met, but exceeded. The role will maintain close client liaison to generate new business opportunities in line with the overall business strategy.
As Frameworks Manager, you will not only be required to manage the usual operations of the business unit, but also deliver best practice solutions. They currently have a requirement for a Quantity Surveyor & Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the Cost Management of refurbishmnt of Healthcare and Education projects in the North West.
The role will require a high level of professionalism and confidence in negotiations, managing contractual risk as well as advising and efficiently implementing the procurement strategy of the business and the projects
Key Responsibilities
Undertake cost analysis for project work;
Assist in establishing a client's requirements
perform risk, value management and cost control;
Advise on a procurement strategy;
Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks;
Prepare and analyse costings for tenders;
Allocate work to subcontractors;
Provide advice on contractual claims;
Analyse outcomes and prepare detailed progress and cash flow reports;
Value completed work and work closely with the Accounts team to arrange payments;
Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use;

• Undertake key aspects of the Principle Designer role as defined within the Construction Design & Management Regulation 2015.

Use of AutoCAD packages for design.
Checking the quality and accuracy of own work.
Able to work well both within a team and independently
Prefers collaborative approaches to finding solutions
Good communication skills, written, spoken and also via drawing / sketches
Working with Clients and Customers and colleagues to generate mutual agreeable outcomes.
Mentoring the development of younger engineering technicians within the team.
Holds baseline security clearance (or higher)
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Ability to gain baseline security clearance, if not already held (will be able to work towards this within the organisation or prior to commencement of contract)
Proficient in use of AUTOCAD
At least 3 years suitable experience within the field of civil engineering

Your new company
Your new company is one of the leading providers of fit-out, refurbishment, M&E, facilities management and construction services throughout the UK. They are a family run firm with a proven track record of excelling within the industry continuing to complete repeat work for customers along with winning new business.
Your new role
This specific role will join their commercial team, working on their frameworks. This specific framework's projects typically range from c£500k - c£2m however you will pick up some smaller projects valuing anything from £10k upwards. As part of your new role you will be responsible for managing contracts finances and budgets as well as the procurement and management of sub-contractors and materials. you will work in conjunction with the procurement department in order to produce relevant procurement schedules.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed you will have a previous history as a Contracts Manager with experience of managing multiple projects successfully. It is essential you have fit-out experience, preferably retail banking however this is not essential. Ideally you will have framework experience, again preferably retail but this is not essential, any type of framework would suffice.
What you'll get in return
In return you will be joining a large Main contractor with a strong pipeline of work throughout the North West. You will receive a comparative salary along with a car allowance. You will also receive benefits such as health care membership and 5% employers pension contribution.
