You will be working within a small Head Office based team in Ware in Hertfordshire and will be a key team member. You will be expected to work closely with the existing team and to provide support by using initiative and drive to bring tasks to a satisfactory and effective conclusion. A proactive approach will be required at all times.Travel to sites/clients will be required as and when applicable and if fully expensed.
To produce priced tenders that are accurate, clearly detailed, competitive and returned within deadlines. Maintain good relationships with prospective clients and professionals to promote further tender invitations and provide clearly identified price build ups to the Contract team.
Responsibilities include:
Tenders
Carefully inspect tender documentation. Identify areas that may have contractual implications.
Provide a detailed Take off and Bill of Quantities (BQ) using Excel
Work on traditional Plan and Specification and Design and Build Contracts.
Send out enquiries to suppliers
Assess individual rates and prices, amend, create new or insert from material and subcontract quotes.
Assess construction sequence and methods to determine the specific preliminary requirements.
Meetings
Attend pre and post-tender meetings with clients
Handover
Prepare pre-start project package for site management and QS
Collate drawings and specifications ready for use on site
Ensure products ordered and compliant with project specifications
Provide information to in-house architect
Price and agree variations to contract
Essential Sought:
Estimator specialising in Pitched & Flat roofs within Commercial, Industrial nd Domestic
Estimating project ranges from £10K - £3M
Managing tenders to contract stage and handover
Skills Sought:
Previous experience in a similar environment
Knowledge of building, material components, building regulations, estimating (including taking off) and H&S
PC skills; Outlook, Word, Excel
Knowledge of contractual procedures and responsibilities
Good negotiation and communication skills
Highly numerate with strong analytical and reasoning abilities
Good organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritise
Confident and resourceful with ability to work alone or within a team
Driving licence and car owner.
